Ok...let me explain my situation with you....

I am playing Russia on a LTC campaign w/ some mods (Ultimate AI, No barder minimap, etc.)

I have a member named Ivan who is...a bit...odd to say the least. So I am playing my campaign, at war with those dirty poles currently and all of a sudden BAM this comes up:

https://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o64/nutranurse/Sicily%20Story/WierdMission.jpg

I read it at first and was like: "Cool Ivan wants a Princess." Then I read it again..and a third time. By the seventh time I was very much wierded out, not to mention mentally disoriented. I went to my family tree to figure something out and I saw this

Now Ivan is outlined in Purple, the princess in Sky blue. So...yea...do you all get my conundrum yet?

Don't worry about it. These kinda things happen. At least they aren't brothers and sisters. I've caused that in the original Medieval before (dragging a princess onto a prince).

Eventful, perhaps it would have been more exciting were they siblings.

Ok, well it seems like this kind of thing is 'normal' in the campaign...But still, I mean it is wierd. Admit that at the least.

Awww, cousins aren't so bad. One incestuous marriage won't break your line. Wait till the brothers and sisters start hooking up with each other and having negative trait filled mutant babies. Then you have to lay down the law :smash:
................. :dizzy2:

In an industrialised country (which I won't name for political reasons and derail thread reasons), a study showed 40% of women had engaged in incest. And that was a study from couple of years ago.

Just imagine the Middle Ages.

I used to do it to unwanted generals in MTW, marry them to their sisters and send them packing to some remote location. At least that way they are useful to someone i.e each other.

How sadistic... I love it. BUHAHAHAHA ! (joke)

Marrying first cousins was not unheard of in royal lines.

Marriage between 1st cousins is legal in almost half the states in the U.S. (guess which half):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Map_of_USA_with_Incest_Legality.svg

The linkied Wiki article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incest) points out that while there is a general ban between "close" family members across many cultures, the definition of "close" varies. Sometimes it just comes down to "not in the same household," which would probably apply to the family tree in the OP's game... at least if we define "household" as separate wings of the castle. :beam:

Most of the European monarchy was related due to in-marriage which led to rare genetic disorders like hemophilia to become more common.

Hmm...talking about the states: In most of Western Europe marriage between cousins is allowed under cicumstances. Between second cousins it could be possible to have a catholic marriage with the permission of the bishop...

I remeber reading in the guide for the first medieval total war that if you drop a princess on one of her fathers or brothers she will be removed from the game and other bad things would happen... Maybe they changed it.My romans never had this problem! Thought marrying a 12 year old when my one general was 25 made me a bot concerned. I mean i know it was quite common then but still.

Pssh, Twelve Year Olds are PERFECTLY capable of child-bearin'. That is not the issue here.

So does it actually damage a Princes traits if he marries his sister in M2TW? What about cousins? Is the Pope OK with that, no excommunication or anything? I was thinking you could just train up Princesses charm levels, then marry them off to your own loosely-related Generals to boost their stats and fertility.

Nutranurse

Well the Pope could not give a HOOT if you marry your family with one another. Hell, I do not think he is aware of that kind of lovin' (and if he is...shame). The only thing I have to say is begin to expect extra-retard (I love you venture bros.) babies somewhere down the line, if not immediately.

So your family is having some incestous relations... Its not like there traits matter THAT much.I mean im a competent field general and thats probably the most important thing. If my sisters is having sex with her bro its not my problem. And if its the popes problem then...well its time to assassinate the pope and instate the incest is okay policy. I mean adam and eve begot cain and abel(most likely some sisters too) Incest had to happen SOMEWHERE in there.

(for then record im not bangin anyone at the moment for i am a virgin...thought i do need some generals to further my empire if any ladies catch my drift.)

this thread deserves some pedobear

I figure if my general adopted into the family, then biologically speaking it's not so bad if he knocked up a cousin. I haven't really looked into this too much, but I think most of the incest-type marriages happen with adopted family members? Of course CA did put the "incest" traits into the game, so obviously it's a feature :inquisitive:

There's exactly one way to get Inbred in the family, and that's when random traits are generated for adoptions. The infamous "drag princess onto father/brother" feature of MTW was not carried over into M2TW.

Once it gets in, though, it will rapidly increase in severity over successive generations:

{Spawn_of_Incest} Spawn of Incest
{Spawn_of_Incest_desc} Was told to be happier when mother and father's marriage transformed them into husband and wife from brother and sister.
{Spawn_of_Incest_effects_desc} -2 Command, -2 Authority, 10% penalty on tax income, Decreases the chance of having children

{Betrothed_to_Mother} Betrothed to Mother
{Betrothed_to_Mother_desc} Likely to sire children with his mother, and maybe with one of them once they're at breedin' age.
{Betrothed_to_Mother_effects_desc} -3 Command, -3 Authority, 15% penalty on tax income
{Betrothed_to_Mother_epithet_desc} the Idiot

How is the betrothed to mother trait possible when people can't re-marry? Does the trait actually produce heirs?

Also, how can the first trait be possible if princesses can't marry their prince brothers? Adopted Generals can't have sisters.

i am currently quite scared of that bear
but the ability to concieve is quite different from the ability to carry the child to term. A thirteen year old may well be able to concieve but is she gonna get a baby through undeveloped hips with simply medieval medical tech
