Hello all.

Recently bought RTW (no BI), it works fine, even though the laptop is just in spec, 3D Battles are fine, but the campaign map is extremely slow (mouse drifting and lag). Is there any way to reduce the resolution to 800x600? I am patched to 1.5. This is the only thing restricted me playing the game fully, and if the 3D works at 800x600 I am sure that the map will as well.

I've tried changing the prefences.txt file manually, but to no avail either.

Thanks all.

main menu => options => video => from there on, switch the campaign map resolution manually
Alternatively, you can also choose "speed" in the auto settings and then, try and see if it runs.

Now, if it doesn't work or if you can't change anything, post again.

Is your campaign map the only thing that lags?
What about your loading screens and your battles?

Hello Poulp'

In the video settings menu I can only select 1024x768 (x16 or x32) for the campaign map. The battle map resolution can go down as far as 800x800. Tried your suggestion but 800x600 isn't shown.

Everything else is fine, loading times are ok and the battlemap is fine, only the campaign map. I pretty sure its a resolution problem, just can't figure out why I can't select 800x600 for the campaign map.

Thanks Poulp'.

Now, that's something strange

post a message in the apothecary and don't forget to specify all your system specifics, and then wait for someone more computer-literate than I.

I had problems a year ago when I first got RTW.

- Windows media drivers needed an upgrade. Had a few problems playing the small movies ...like when a faction is destroyed.

- Needed a graphics card. Didnt have a dedicated one so game was really jerky on the campaign map just like you describe. Was OK on the battles...until big armies clashed..and forget about the huge unit scale that was unmanagable.

Do you know what and where I could get upgrades for the windows media drivers?

Thanks Severous!
