Apparently everyone is now part of the usergroup "Backroom." (usergroup as in EB, Ran no Jidai, etc)

My guess is that it makes things easier to just simply kick people out of that usergroup when things get too heated instead of simply demoting them.

...or something along those lines.

That makes sense.

Hello,

This was added yesterday, together with the forumfilter.

The forum filter allows each member to remove one or more forums from the listing. For example to speed up navigating or to disable viewing a forum you do not wish to see. Private, personal, individual.

The usergroup Backroom is a secondary usergroup. Every member who had Backroom posting rights yesterday, received the group. As a consequence, your userCP https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/profile.php?do=editusergroups now lists your Membershiplevels. When you have at least one secondary level, your primairy level is listed first (Member, Senior Member, Clan), then it lists your secondary levels. When you leave a secondary level, you give up your extra privileges. But you can request the memberlevel again, granting it is a manual proces, so it may take some time.

In case of memberlevel Backroom, it's the privilege to post in the Backroom. It's your free, private and personal choice to keep it or not. In other words, this and the forum filter now allows you to use any or both tools to remove yourself from the Backroom.

If you need a sabbatical from the Backroom and just turning a blind eye or removing the Backroom from the display is not enough, you can delete the membership and request it again later.

It also works from the other side, but an unfortunate forced Backroom timeout is now 100% private between you and the staff (unless you want to announce it in public) and has, by default, no effect for you and the rest of the forum functionality, unlike the old fashioned one size fits all demotion (you can still post like normal in other forums). Private, personal, individual.

Will this be done for every forum? No. There are too many forums for such detailed administration, sorry.

I hope this explained and improves the forums for all of us.
