I got this game for Christmas for PC. It installed fine but the video literally does not come up. I hear sound, but the screen is totally black. What's up?
In case this is of any importance: My computer can play MTW2 and Black And White, so graphics shouldn't be a problem.
It might be a codec problem, but i'm really not sure

Does it say anything at all, other than a mere black screen ?
I'd say, from the sound of it, that Sapi's right - it might be a codec problem. Does the box contain any info with regard to which codec you'd need to run it ?
If it does, let us know.

I didn't find on Activision's forums the exact problem you are having. Here's a silly shot-in-the-dark: can you confirm that what you have is the PC version of the game, and not the Xbox360 or PSP version ("PC" should be displayed prominently on the box cover)?
If that checks out, do you have access to any other machine to try it out on?

Yes it is a PC game.:2thumbsup:
No I do not have another computer to really try it on though.

I guess, rather than have you jump through a bunch of diagnostic hoops, I'd recommend an uninstall, then re-install, hoping that that some possibly corrupted file un-corrupts itself on the re-install.
If that fails, we'll need to check out your vid card seating and drivers, and do some video tests to see what component/application is failing.
Good Luck.

LOL! there is no way you could mistake a UMD for a CD/DVD, ever. You could definatly mistake an Xbox DVD for a PC-DVD though.
Here are some pics of UMD.

It never comes out of the casing. They are like floppies in a lot of ways.

OK, I've displayed my abysmal ignorance of things Playstation. Don't have one; don't know anyone who does (Gregoshi might IIRC). My apologies for being stupid. I saw PSP as one of the versions available, and thought, as an out-of-the-blue idea, our member-in-trouble might have got hold of a version incompatible with his hardware.
One wonders how lars573's post helps Derfasciti make his game playable. Perhaps his suggestion is to address his graphic card sarcastically, in a Nova Scotian accent: "Ya Call that a display, do ya? Me Grrrrandmuther could pixelate better than that!". (apologies to Nova Scoshuns) (and thanks to lars573 for setting me straight, with Pix).
Try installing VLC, comes with most codecs you might need. There are other codec packs too. Realplayer comes with most big ones too.
