Hello every frontroomer,
Just wondering what your favourite crisp flavours were.
I personally prefer something a little more adventurous than the regular selections that you find in Walkers. That is why I like Sage and Onion stuffing flavour. Very strange taste, but very satisfying.

I've always had a certain liking for Prawn Cocktail. Other than that I'm not particularly a fan of crisps, whatever the flavour. They tend to make me gag. :inquisitive:

I would have to say that prawn cocktail and cheese and onion are the best on the list, however my personal favourite is the mint and roast lamb. Delicious. Honourable mentions also go to ketchup, barbecue and Worcester Sauce.

Ah, I did not notice Worcestershire sauce! That's the chap for me...
I have never understood what it is with all those different flavours (especially in England). I mean, Cheese and Onion, Ketchup...common!
My favourite would have to be Ready Salted and Other (Paprika).

I could never had put it better. I would have to vote for spicy chilli, beacause it sounds the best. Also, beacause I dip my chips in chilli half the time anyway.

Crisps are called crisps because they are crisp.
Potato chips are called chips because they're chipped potatoes, and properly made, are deep and soft with a crunchy exterior.
The latter designation also frees the national vegetable recipe from any assocation or sovereignty that may be advanced by the unfortunate term "French fries".
This means that when the neighbours get uppity, the British don't have to go through linguistic gyrations like "freedom fries". Chips remain chips.

i read that chips/crisps were made by an indian cook who had an english customer whining about the size of his patotoes... so the cook got angrty and chopped the patotoes so thin and fried them that they all got crispy....
some say he was my ancestor... so i guess... I OWN ALL CHIPS/CRISPS COMPANIES!!!!

BBQ is the best you can get from the mainstream chip makers. Fortunately for me, I live in Virginia, home of the Route 11 chip company. They make a wide variety of flavors (including chips from sweet potatos), but the ruler of them all is Mama Zuma's Revenge Habanero potato chips. Spicy! :2thumbsup:

I used to like Paprika crisps/potato chips until the wife banned me from eating them due to how they made my breath smell "awful".

Well over here we are too lazy to use a different word for them. We don't even say potato chips, they are just both chips to us.
and BBQ is my favourite, though that is about as exotic a chip flavour you can get here, though they have brought in Green Onion recently, but I still prefer BBQ. :2thumbsup:
Re: the argument over the naming convention.
Since they were invented here in the US, we can call them whatever we want. :tongue: You Brits can call them crisps, hufnagels, tutus, whatever, but as the inventors we have the right to use our terminology without hassle.

It is believed that the original potato chip recipe was created by Native American/African American chef George Crum, at Moon's Lake House near Saratoga Springs, New York on August 24, 1853. He was fed up with a customer — by some accounts Cornelius Vanderbilt (although this has been disproved) — who continued to send his fried potatoes back, because they were too thick and soggy. Crum decided to slice the potatoes so thin that they couldn't be eaten with a fork. Against Crum's expectation, the guest was ecstatic about the new chips. They became a regular item on the lodge's menu under the name "Saratoga Chips".

For “potato chips” I like original best, the salty burn is the most excellent!

Does anyone else remember monster munch BTW? Or the oh so aptly named Wotsits? Ah, they don't make artificial childrens snack foods like they used to...

And for the record, US/Canadian crisps suck. They're cheap and generic. No-one matches Britain for our quality and range of choice. I should know, I've lived over there.
