Start Date

Is there a way to change the Start Date in Medieval 2? I went into Desc Strat and the file where the Start date was sdaved. I changed it but when i went to save it it would not let me. I was able to do this in Rome No Probs. Can someone please help me. It takes to lnog to get to the New World

That file is tagged "Read Only", which is why you can't save it. You can remove that by right clicking on the file name and unchecking the box for it. However, just changing that won't let you get to the new world any faster, because that event is set to trigger a set number of years (around 320 years or so) after the campaign starts. So, if you mod the file so the campaign starts in 1400, it'll be about 1720 before you get the event. You'll need to change the event file instead.

Edit- I tried replying to your PM, but you need to clear some space by deleting the stored messages. It won't let me send it. There's something of an explanation of the file at the beginning of the events file. You might also search this forum; there was a post about the events file a while back, but I'm sure it's back to at least page 5 by now. I'll check the format when I get home from work.
