Has anyone noticed that if you capture multiple settlements with master or higher swordsmith guilds in them, the global bonus they provide stacks. So if you capture lots of master swordsmith guilds which are rather plentiful in castles, you can essentially train gold chevy knights right of the block. I'm also sure the effects of master horse breeder and master alchemist guild also stack.

They do. I have three master swordsmith's guilds, a St. John's HQ and a master horse breeders guild in my current campaign. In the city with the HQ, I build 6 xp Hospitallers. I wondered how I was getting that much until you mentioned it, then I recalled I had captured master smith guild buildings from Hungary, Spain and England. The horse breeders guild is my own, and the only way I got that was to recruit and disband italian militia cavalry over and over in one city until I got the offer.

Yup, I'm making extensive use of this feature(?) in my current Venice campaign. 3 Master Horsebreeders Guilds(thank you Egypt) and 1 Horsebreeders HQ gives my Stradiots a good start in their careers.

It's much more effective combined with Templar/Hospitaller/Teutonic/Santiago knights though, since those units get XP from their own Master and HQ buildings, Master Swordsmith Guilds, Horsebreeders Guild and also, for some factions, the Tourneys. :2thumbsup:

Problem is that the experience giving buildings are bugged, making your dudes come out with 0 exp. So you gotta use create_unit cheat to get your uber knights in 1 turn like you should.

it doesnt matter if the units have 9 gold chevrons because it will only give 1 bonus per chevron COLOUR

which means

attack: 8
defence: 8

with one bronze chevron it changes to

attack: 9
defence: 9

with 2 bronze chevron it changes to

attack: 9
defence: 9

with 1 silver chevron it changes to

attack: 10
defence: 10

with 3 silver chevron it changes to

attack: 10
defence: 10

ETC

to finish my post (i have no edit button)

I don't know if it is a bug or feature but those all killing, immortal units of the other TW games arent there... units don't get much stronger by gaining experiance... i'm not sure how armour works... but i thougt i saw somewhere that all armour just add 1 armourpoint in total... so doesnt matter which armour you just get 1 point... not 1 point for all previous armour 2...

There is still some morale bonus from additional chevs. While the effects aren't quite as strong as previous TW games, the difference between a valor 9 unit and a green unit is still quite hefty.

I thought it was something like:
Bronze 1) +1 Attack
2) +1 Defence
3) I have no clue
This repeats to my knowledge

No, it seems to go:
1 +1 attack, defense, morale
2 morale
3 morale
4 +1 attack, defense, morale
etc

I thought chevs also increase accuracy for missile units and charge success rates for cavalry. Well anyway, its still nice to have your general surrounded by a bunch of golden chevies instead of boring rust colored ones. It also makes your army look more realistic since knights were the elites of medieval days and not some freshie that spawns from a castle hole.

It's true. v9 archers vs. fresh ones kill almost twice as many on each volley. Knights with 3 bronze chevs or better are quite a bit more consistent and responsive during charges.

Did you know elephants are considered knights also. Even the artillery ones.

...? how did you figure that?

My guess is he either played the Timurids or hired a batch of elephant mercenaries and got the option of retraining a full strength unit for more experience.

how can you play Timurids...? They arent on the starting map...

Does it matters alot when they are counted as Cav?

katank

Well, if you can get experience bonus for them, that's huge. Horse breeder's guild is very easy to get for the Eastern factions. Green elephants are easily routed. The ones Timurids field are v6 and are far tougher.

There are plenty of mods around that allows you to play as other factions, including the Timurids.

Yup I recruited some merc elephants and sent them for retraining. The bonus from my alchemist HQ, Horsebreeder HQ and 5 captured master swrdsmith allowed me to upgrade them to instant 3 gold chevs

That is absolutely nuts. Have you tried using them in battle?

supadodo

Yup. Maybe I'll try get a screenie but I don't know how. Can someone tell me how to take screenshots and save them.

Hit the PrtScrn button to take a screenshot. It'll be saved as a .tga file in the tgas folder of the game directory. You'll need another program like Photoshop to convert it to a different format; I recommend .jpg format. At least on mine, they come out in 1024x768 resolution regardless of the resolution of my settings; I don't know if there is an option someplace that controls it.

Once you have the screenshot, now you need someplace to host it. You can use Imageshack (https://imageshack.us/) if you want. Go there, click the Browse button, and navigate to the file in question. Once you've selected it, click the "host it!" button and wait while it uploads. Once it's finished uploading, it will give you a thumbnail image of the picture as well as three lines of code: one in HTML and two in VBCode. Select either of the ones beginning with URL= and copy it, then paste the text into whatever you want to post here. It will give you a clickable thumbnail image in the body of the post. The base image is small, but clicking on the image will take the user to the full sized picture.
