View Full Version : *Notice* (somewhat important).
I got a msg from dan asking me to let ya'll know that .org will likely be moving again in the near future.
One of the reasons is that .org is having a beef with our host company about those pain-in-the-ass secondary banners which occasionally appear, (you know: the "you have one message waiting" ones...)
If dan can't reconcile the issue then .org is going to switch to a new server. Hopefully the transition will go smoothly, but if there are any service disruptions try to be understanding. -He seems positive however that it will not be as prolonged a break as last time; so put the tar and feathers on hold. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
Tiz' better that .org does this now than during the release period me thinks + unlike the last time the message board, (in it's entirety), will be coming along for the ride; so don't worry about your post count, and threads, and stuff.
BTW If there is a problem someone will keep you posted on the Community Site forum.

Yes,
Hopefully we will find a decent server with no annoying pop-ups or whatsover but the most important thing is that it is stable and no internal errors.

The pop-ups have never bothered be to any significant degree, I only get one per week or so (maybe I'm just too lucky to be alive). The principle, however, is important: there should be none, whatsoever.
And, of course, if we can get a faster server in the process, all the better... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

Lucky you, Cat. I get 'em all the time.

I don't mind the ad's so much as I mind the way that the server doesn't deliver pages when I click for them, or when it hangs indefinitly when I try and post something here in the forum.

Dan should look into getting hosted through my web hosting service provider, prices are low and bandwidth is a lot better than any of the European providers I've read up on or experienced.
Check out http://www.websolo.com and http://www.abac.com/web.html for more info on those. I use Websolo accounts, mainly, because they are cheap and come with all you need.

BTW, my little UltraBoard that I am working on there is lightning fast on my server too!

Just for everyones infomation: it really looks like the meat of the move is on now; so necessarily there will be a point at which the items from this message board, will not be carried over to the new message board.
As it stands we have access to this old UBB board, but be forewarrned that anything you post from here on out may not make it over to the new board.
In other words: it's probably not a good idea to leave a multitude of really indepth posts right now. Or, at the very least: if you have comments for threads that are on-going you should probably save a copy of your post on your PC so you can re-post it over at the new message board if necessary.

Does that mean that the Strategy archive needs archiving PDQ. I was going to get on with it this weekend anyhow, but it'll be prioritised a bit higher if the boards going down in the not to distant future
