You do realize that that nice, shiny Driver's License card of yours is actually the Government's way of observing your every move with a hidden GPS chip and DNA-information storage, right?
You fell for it, brother; but it's not too late. Heed my advice and take the red pill.

Do you have one?I do. Or I think I do, since I never used it. :2thumbsup:
I'm an old-skool city boy. Hate cars, SUVs especially; uses metros, trains, and the occasional bus or taxi. I just think cars are superfluous in overcrowded cities.

Congrats, SFTS. :balloon2: :balloon2:
Got mine at 15 years, 6 months (Michigan in the 60's). KNEW I was a good driver, since I'd studied hard, and practiced in the school parking lot for weeks. Made it to day #29 before my first accident
(mis-judged the effect of rain on pavement; when the wheels spun while leaving a stop sign, I gunned it vs. hitting the brakes and waiting. What should have been 2-3 seconds to clear the intersection, took 8 or 10 - long enough for a Buick(at 3 o'clock) to catch my right-rear quarter-panel, and spin me clockwise (from 6 to 9) into another Buick. My Dad's big, fat Ford Galaxy 500 looked like a Plymouth Barracuda in the rear, and both Buicks had crushed noses; no one hurt, thank god. It was the hardest phone call I ever made home. License suspened for 6 months, insurance tripled (which I had to pay))
Not saying the same thing will happen to you. You're probably a much better driver than I was (40 years later, I drive for a living, and have travelled over 2 million documented miles without an accident or ticket). Just keep in mind that YOU (and you alone) are piloting/aiming that quarter-ton bullet travelling at high speed, looking for a target - just waiting for that 2 seconds when Becky Sue's smile distracts you enough that you miss a stop sign or gun-it thru a wet intersection.
Good Luck, man. And welcome to the road. :2thumbsup:

Dear God.
What a 6'1 230 pound guy crying can tug at a few heartstrings dude!
Thanks Kurki!
Do the neighbors from Ohio know that you're now allowed to control a large metal vehicle? 'Cause they should probably be worried ...

I assumed our Strikey wanted to share the news with his backroom-only buddies. Now that it's had 118+ views, we'll assume that mission is accomplished, and move it to its natural home, the Kingdom of Peace, Love, and Groovy.
Greetings BKS and Beirut!
Yeah, we do groovy as well, Kukri.
So, SFTS, have you saved up enough for your new car?

Congratulations. I never have wanted to drive, who has to drive when you have a (particularly) strange taxi service with an, interestingly eccentric, driver on call for twelve hours a day ready to take you to where you want to go at a *huge* price
Seriously, I want to drive, but I am yet to pass my test. I think that it may have something to do with my *very* sharp breaking :grin3:

LoL,Brother Beirut, that bug resembles my old '65 VW, "customized" by hippie girlfriend in1970, with flowers, peace signs and stuff.
SFTS might prefer something more along the lines of:

If he is getting his license, I think that it is abot time we ran...
But, as that is just my smatassness talkin, we might as well give a whoop for SFTS (im to lazy to type the whole thing)

Caution should be payed to the condition of the road of course, that's part of why it's for advanced drivers...

Well done on getting your driver's licence, STFS. I passed my test about three months ago, but moved up to London two days afterwards and haven't driven since. I'm going to be pretty dangerous when I get back on the road.

I have to agree with the non-drivers. I'm 22, and don't drive. If I need to go somewhere, I can always have someone drive me (in fact, back home, we do have a driver. Whereas if I could drive, I would be continually pestered to take sister/mother shopping or some other pointless errand.
You will never know what you miss
The German Autobahn, 160 an hour, back in an hour and a half instead of 3 and a half by train
Take cover!! ~
Rilder, I am 17 could get my license next year but I won't since we feel the same way about cars ~ ~:) :balloon2:

I have my license but haven't driven in 6 years or so. The only way I could drive regularly would be to own a car, and I'm not willing to spend that kin of money on something so 'practical' right now. Occasional driving is just too risky around these parts imo.
