Newbie here (background is MS Flight Sim and Red Alert 2 RTS).

Now doing the campaign tutorial. After routing the sonafbitches, the game asks if I want to continue to hunt down the good-for-nothings, I said 'yes', and now they're all dead. You ask how can I be sure?? Well, I took a group on a tour around the city, visited all the streets, and I can't find any of the cowards.

After pressing all the buttons on the screen and with no apparent choices, I thought I'd give it time and get something to eat. Maybe these low-lifers will come out cowering and plead for my mercy.

When I came back about 2 hours later, nothings happened! When I press the 'Esc' button it asks, among other things: 'Return to Game' (don't want this since I've already waited 2 hours) and Exit Game (don't want this either because I don't want to re-do this tutorial for the 4th time - I kept getting interrupted previously).

Now what?? Should I just Quit, Ctrl-Alt-Delete, continue waiting, or give up on this game and try Company of Heroes instead? I'm looking for something deeper than Red Alert 2. Thanks.

Sometimes bad pathfinding means that you have one or two units of a routing group running continuously into a fence, or something like that.

Take off limited battlefield vision so that you can move the camera over the entire battlefield, and try and find the left over unit.

Look on the battlemap as well for a little red triangle.

Aside from that, I don't know if you can exit after being given the option to end the battle and still count it as a win.. I think you can.

In RTW at least you can.

Playing on until all enemies on the map are killed makes sense in campaign battles, when you want to completely destroy the enemy´s army, instead of having it retreat and come at you again. But in custom battles or the tutorial there´s no such incentive.

So what do I do? I'd really hate to start this tutorial again for the umpteenth time. All I really want to do is continue and complete the tutorial thingy. Is there like a secret keyboard combo that will force the question again so I can continue? Ctrl-Break-something maybe? How about a cheat? Like I said, I'd really hate to start doing this tutorial thingy again. Thank you.

By the way, what the heck is a 'sally'. I don't think it's the same as a 'rally'. Wouldn't make sense.

Just in case it's not clear enough, the 3 minute timer is at zero, so I've won. All my troops are in the square. They look bored, hungry, and tired of waiting witht nothing to do. They're already probably think I'm an incompetent. I hope they don't lynch me or start spreading rumors that will be the downfall of yours truly eventually.

If you're to that point in the tutorial, there's not much left to do except use an assassin and take another castle. The assassin is dead simple to use, select him, right-click on a target, examine his chances of success, and go ahead with the mission or not. You already know everything else the tutorial has to offer and it doesn't impact the campaign game at all. Unless you're a completionist, I'd say exit the game and start up a real campaign.

As a bit of advice, if you're offered the option of ending a battle early in a siege, take it. Much less tedious, and the enemy garrison dies on the campaign map anyways as it has nowhere to run.

Yep, always do that on siege assault. Sometimes, if you work quickly enough, you can end up with 2-300 or more enemy troops all routing. If they make it back to the square, they'll rally and start inflicting casualties again. If you end battle though, that's it. They die and you don't take any unnecessary casualties.

Thank you. I'm glad you warned me there's not much to miss to anyway. I'll exit the game.

Stop the Tutorial and start a real campaign maybe? If you still need help use the FAQ lady in the top left corner, she loves to talk when you let her.
