question to the gurus:
i really like stw (best thing is when your yari is storming out of the forest slaughering attacking cavallery, much remembering me of "braveheart"), but i have the bothering problem that my soldiers start moving around after a while after positioning them in a special formation( archers in 2 rows for ex.)
tried "hold formation", "hold position" button, but things doesnt change.
any ideas why ?

greetings from germany

If you deploy too near the circle's edge, or if you place too many units too close then the computer will shift your men around http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif

Leave a noticeable space between units, and don't crowd the circle. You should be fine then http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

it can be annoying, especially when the computer shifts you men more than just a little shuffle to the right or left (I've had men move almost all the way back to the end of the army) but the BS has it right: dont overlap your troops.

It applies to real life. Never mingle your formations of soldiers together, its not a time to socialise. Formations do not cut into one another's ranks otherwise confusion among the troops will occur

Also, if you order any ranged units to fire upon specific enemy units, your archers will track the enemy - the whole unit will rotate to keep the enemy in front.

Hitting Hold Position will keep men from moving too much.
