Tried installing 0.8 as recommended but the game won´t load and the EB-shortcut on my desktop is just a picture. What am I doing wrong? What patches should I use and where can I get them? Could my problem be a bad DL?

We need more information to go on. Can you try this?
1) Go to the folder where you installed EB
2) Does that folder only have the "Data" and "EB" sub-folders in it?
OR
1) Go to your RTW folder
2) Is there an EB sub-folder present in the same folder where you see the RomeTW.exe file?

Seems my EB folder was in the same folder as the data folder. Problem is I didn´t put it there since I simply followed install instructions. Moved and replaced all vanilla files in the data folder with all EB files but the game won´t launch. My desktop icon is still an icon and the game won´t load from the programs list either since there´s no program associated with it???? Think I need to reinstall it all but suspects that my patch(es) are wrong. The 1.2 nedds to be manually installed, that can´t be right, can it? Any DL links for all the patches needed? Thx in advance blacksnail!

Well, after DL 1.3, 1.5 and 0.8 all over again and installing it correctly I still can´t get it to work. The EB icon on my desktop is still an icon and hasn´t replaced the original RTW shortcut.
Looking on my HD I noticed that in the folder Programs there´s an RTW folder containing a data and a EB folder but no exe´s. In the Program Files folder there´s also an RTW folder and this contains the exe, license agreement and all the files I recognize should be there after an installment. Could the installer have been pointing me in the wrong direction during the install?
Also after installing the vanilla RTW I get an option while installing the 1.3 patch that says "modify", "repair" and "uninstall" before installing the patch itself. I´ve tried modify and repair but nothingseems to make this right.

Yes. The folder with .exe and license agreement is where Vanilla is located. Write down the series of folders below "program files" that take you to . I think I can direct you from here:
1) Uninstall EB.
2) Go to the folder that just has "Data" and "EB" folders with nothing else, then delete both those folders. (Be sure you empty your recycle bin as there will be a lot of files.)
3) Restart the EB 0.80 installer.
4) When you get to the part in the installation where it shows you the folder where it will go, select "browse" or "choose folder" or whatever button allows you to do so.
5) Look for the "other" Rome - Total War folder that has files and folders in it. When you get into that folder through this "choose folder" thing, you're at the right place.
6) Choose "select folder" or "okay" or whatever button allows you to say "this is the folder where RTW Vanilla is located."
7) Complete the installation.
After you are finished, and before you start your game, go to the Vanilla RTW folder under Program files with the .exe and license agreement. You should now see amongst the folders in the list the "EB" folder. If this is the case, that means EB has installed to the right location. You should be able to use the icon on the desktop to launch the game.
Good luck! Let us know if it works.

This doesn´t work either. Deleted files in the Program-folder prior to installing but after the installation it´s there again. Yet again I have the Data and EB folder in the Program folder and the "real" one in the Program files folder. The shortcut on my desktop still can´t find the program associated with it.
Rightclicking the shortcut it states that the "C:\Program\Activision\Rome - Total War\" path is invalid. The target line says "C:\Program\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -mod:eb -nm -show_err

Eureka!
The solution was simple. The Eb installer points you to the folder "Programs" NOT "Programs folder" as it should. You might wanna change this to prevent more slugs, like myself, clutter the boards with theese problems. Thanks for your help guys.
Now, I´m gonna try out my long lost Sabaeans.
