I've never owned or used a laptop, but in 3 months time I'm going to live in the Philippines for at least a year. So I need to shop around for a laptop that I can do my work on....and of course run M2TW with the settings set to the highest possible (don't care about shadows, I set them to 0)

Any suggestions or advice? I know nothing about laptops.

Thanks

M2 runs on the highest settings in my laptop.
It's "ASUS" barebone type laptop, manufactured by "ACME".

Hardware:
Intel 2.0 Ghz Dual Core
2 gigs of RAM
512 MB Ati Mobility Radeon X1600

If u aren't that good with compters and don't care that much about money, go to the alienware, voodoo, or falcon northwest website, find their most expensive laptop and buy it. Basically guaranteed to run any modern game at max settings, but it is probably gonna cost five to six grand.

I've got a Dell Inspiron 9400, and it does the job just fine. I just looked at the Dell website... the latest 'laptop', 20 inch screen, detachable full-sized keyboard. I almost wet myself.

I have a Toshiba Tecra M4. It's a tablet PC with a 14 inch 1400x1050 screen, 1.7 ghz pentium M, 1.5 gigs of ram (I added one gig of third party RAM to achieve that) and a GeForce Go 6200 64mb graphics card. It runs the game at max settings fairly comfortably. Just don't try to turn shadows on.

So no shadows??? What rez are you running at?

My overclocked Go6800 can't run at max... no way that 6200 can.

Does the game automatically restrict what you can choose in the options? Maybe that would explain why some people can run it at "max" on a 66MHz 486 with a Voodoo2 and 32MB RAM while others get lag on a supposedly much better machine.:sweatdrop:
