I have been playing a really nice campaign as the Scots, but now I am faced with a problem: my family members aren't marrying anyone.

Essentially I have 5 characters: Governer in Dublin and Inverness, heir in Edinburgh, and an old kind and his brother off on a crusade and never to return home.

Now my game seems to be seriously short on Princesses throughout the world: I can't find a single potential wife for my heir under 35 years old.

When I played as spain, I got spammed with internal marriage offers by random Spanish ladies. By in Scotland it's a different story. I started hitting the "end turn" button when I realised it was a serious problem...and find out that my heir (and eventually king) and his cousins all reach retirment age without getting any proposals.

Are there just no women in Scotland? Is there a way to tweak this in a data file or something? Does anyone know what determines the "random wife" offering?

No idea about the cause of your problem, but for a solution you could try fighting battles against rebels with captains to trigger the man of the hour event and fill out your family.

Try moving the characters around a little bit. I seem to get more offers when my characters are on the march.

Send diplomats to other factions to ask if you can marry their daughters to your faction heir. That will get at least one member of your family married...

I usually do not marry off my heir to a random girl offered. I try to find a princess someplace to solidify my relations with another faction. And my heir can't just marry some merchants daughter can he?!?! :crowngrin: :whip:

Better than some of the those 0 charm princess. Try marrying your heir to a Danish princess if you want to see your warrior king henpecked to death.

I had this problem with HRE too, I had to quit that campaign, because my all familymembers, which were alive, were already over 50 and no kids or wives. Something just screwed system up and didn't give any marriages anymore. I did try to play without adoptions. Of course there were adoption proposals nearly every turn, but I just wanted to keep my family clear. :)

It's probably because they all wear skirts up there and can't tell the boys from the girls. Then there is that whole sheep issue so maybe your prince doesn't want to get married and is happy getting some field love. :smash:

Too many sheep references. Keep it PG, please. There are other internet sites where you can discuss romantic feelings for sheep. :closed:
