I am looking for any maps and in general any information about the Desmond Rebellion ( 1579-83) especially the battles.
I hope someone will answer this call for help.

Ok so that is the second Desmond Rebellion.
You are talking about one of the saddest epics of Irish history here with several tragic individuals but few battles. It was mostly raid and pillage and when it was done between half to a third of the Munster population was dead while the rest were left to starve. There were a couple of sieges that turned into masacrers as I recall….
If you say why you need the information perhaps it would be easier to tailor to your needs.

Maps - also from the first Desmond Rebellion
I recall a book I have read in Ireland - 'Munster at war' or similar - there were some maps inside.:book:

You are unlikely to find any original maps of the time. It may be hard to believe but Ireland was not mapped until the 1600s and it cost the lives of several people sent out to make them.
I can only come up with general maps and there don't seem to be any readily available dealing with the revolt. If you recall the book that had the maps that could be your best bet.
Of course you know the area is Munster and I won't bore you with unwanted historical trivia.~;)

I hope you can find something useable at these two sites.

I didn't mean that. The maps are far too little detailed, I think.
I hope someone has a book with a map or two of a larger clash/siege in those conflicts - information which is probably only available in such sources is what I really need.:book:

Most of the following is searchable…
Desmond Rebellions
A series of rebellion by the Earl of Desmond dynasty against English rule. The wars were mostly fought using guerrilla tactics and there were many small engagements and relatively few pitched battles.
First Desmond Rebellion 1569-73
• 1569 -Siege of Kilkenny
• 1571 -Sack of Kilmallock
Second Desmond Rebellion 1579-1583
• 1579 - Aenachbeg
• 1579 - Sack of Youghal
• 1579 - Sack of Kinsale
• 1580 - Battle of Glenmalure
• 1580 - Siege of Carrigafoyle Castle (Easter)
• 1580 - Siege of Smerwick
• 1582 - Allhallowtide
You may find more of what you need by searching the individual battles. Town histories will also have accounts. I know the Lord Mayer of Youghal was hanged when the town was recaptured.
I know good maps are hard to come by for old battles and from this war….well best of luck and warm up your scanner. Ordinance Survey Maps will give you the scale if you can find no other way but you have the buildings of today on the terrain you need. It is removable if you scan it into cad but a slow process beyond the means of most of us on a budget.
