Is there a way for you to do this besides attacking a neutral faction?

Botching an assassination attempt is about the only other way I can think of. Biggest lack the Diplo options have always had: you can't declare a war. You'd think by now I'd have got my wish to be able to declare war honorably....

I've always attack bordered neutral factions. I am always hated by the pope, but I don't care. I'll take on the world, or the world can try to take me. :duel:

I really think that it would be bouth accurate and correct if the Declare war option would be added in the diplomatic abitiles we are given in this game!!!
Also perhaps the very debated option "Get of my land"

Agreed entirely. Declaring war by attacking seems far too sneaky and not very chivalrous to me. "Get off my land!" would be a godsend. Sometimes the AI leaves armies just laying about your turf for no good reason, and othertimes they're just waiting to strike. Either way, I want them off my turf. If I parked my armies in their land, there would be hell to pay and rapidly detereorating relations. I fail to see why it doesn't work both ways.

Relations actually do deteriorate too if the AI walks his troops on your green spots. Just that it doesn't help you to have deteriorating relations.

Screw chivalry!:whip: I war with everyone and leave no one out of my party. I lost doing this before, but hey it is very fun. A bad ally is a good enemy. I love to be excommunicated with the Pope, but I leave the Papal States to the end to war against. They can be tough. They're like RomeTW Senate. They are tough alone. The Mongols and Turmids are a bugger tho. The Aztecs are not a shoddy peoples too.
BTW has anyone knowtest that the Aztec cities are very Islamic when you fight them on the battlefield.

Mongol! Tfui!
I hate that the AI leaves armies just sitting around.
Especially if you don't want to fight them.
Your men have nowhere to go because they're blocked by your allies.

Actually, if you and your alies have a mutual agreement considering Military acces, they do NOT block your path ;)
It also bethers your relations with them and your reputation in general when YOU propose military access for military access :idea2:
"Accept or we will attack" option could be used for declaring war, but now it is useless (or at least I do not see any benefit of it).
Your rep actually takes a significant hit when you declare war, because most of the actions you can take to declare war (ie attacking something) are 'dishonorable' by definition. If you march into someone's land and siege his city, the game treats it like you 'snuck in' hoping to steal a settlement or two.
Nationalism is a little early for this game, but I wish I could get away with attacking say Paris because 'the Plantagenets are the rightful heirs to the French throne, so we are just taking back what's ours', instead of everyone being outraged at my warmongering.
