How is this possible?! I wanted to wipe the Brutii out by killing all their family members. However, I think this guy might live forever, and even my best assassins only have like a 3% chance of killing him. Him and the faction heir are the only Brutii family members left, since I assassinated the other one. 105 years old... wow...
only 3% chance and 105 year old
I'd say "wait a few more years" :beam:

Ha ha ha. I'm hoping the faction heir dies of old age soon too, since he's 57. If I try to assassinate them and fail, will I be outlawed from the Senate? I'm playing version 1.3.

I think you should let them both be. I mean they deserve some respect from the youngsters.

I play 1.5 and none of my failed assasination attempts made the senate angry, and I had alot as my assasins sucked.

Never seen anybody that old before in R:TW. I wonder how long he's got left before he finally passes away?
Fortunately the senate don't excommunicate you or suffer from extreme rage if you try to assassinate other Romans. Luckily they don't even notice at all which is very peculiar, but convenient. I once assassinated the whole of the senate and half of the Julii faction and got away with my terrible crimes.
Good luck with your assassination attempts. Remember that with a 3% chance you still do have a tiny chance of killing him.

If my memory serves having spies in the settlement/army of the character increases your assasins chances of getting them, why not try it, I may be wrong though...

1.3 has a save/load bug as concerns Faction Leaders. When you load a save, they definitely won't die of old age on the next turn, or perhaps even for a few turns. Definitely won't die the next turn. So...how many turns do you play in one sitting WITHOUT loading a save up to go back and fix something, such as a messed-up battle?

I bet all his heirs croaked waiting for him to die.
On a side note, Pharoah Ramses the Great lived to 89 or so.

The longest record for a leader is 120 (approximate) years by Pepy II of the Old Kingdom of Egypt. He lived so long that he outlived all his heirs meaning that there was nobody to take over after his death. This caused Egypt to descend into anarchy and civil war with different rich nobles battling over different parts. He was super old, even in modern terms! He still holds the record for the longest reign of one ruler. However by the time he got to that age he was probably so tired that he couldn't really do much.

No, I haven't ever re-loaded my campaign because of a mess up this campaign. I do usually only go on for like 4 turns before getting off though, so that might effect it.
By the way, he died, and so did his heir. Both of old age. Now all I have to do is kill 3 full rebel armies outside of their cities and 2 gladiator armies inside the cities. And half of the gladiator armies are mercanary war elephants.

Glad to hear that he has finally gone, although it would have been entertaining to see him live to be over 110. Enjoy your conquest of their old lands and good luck against those elephants. Remember to use Velites/Light Auxila against them, they should then fall down like flies.
if they are trapped within the city, then onagers are the way to go !!
who cares about the city ?

Is there a limit to how long the faction leader can stay alive with that load thing as I would like to keep my faction leader alive forever :)
after 120, age reset to zero

Highest I ever got was 82. That's just ridiculous.

The highest I have ever managed to get with a general on the R:TW engine (this was in Europa Barbarorum) was 91. I was thinking that he was an immortal god sent to save us all before he finally died. Such a shame.
