Does anybody know which file has all the earthquakes,floods and crap and how to shut it off?

I just lost 3 family members to floods and earthquakes in the last 2 years. If you recall, I'm the one trying to keep the royal line pure so I don't have many family members to spare.

Thanks

You can find the appropriate files through this directory path:

Medieval II Total War---->Data--->World-->Maps--->Campaign----imperial_campaign-->descr_strat.

All listed disasters and other information regarding that can be found in the descr_strat file.. hope this helps! :2thumbsup:

Oh, and also.. you should get off just fine just plainly deleting those particular events.. just be sure to have a backup copy in case you wish to restore those certain events back into place for whatever reasons...

Thanks. Do you have to restart the campaign or will it work with a saved game?

I'm not too sure over that as I've never attempted such a feat myself... my guess is that you need to start a new campaign in order for your new event criteria to take place as you intended... but that's just my guesswork! :laugh4:

But what I can tell you though is that your changes are guaranteed to work in the case of starting a new campaign...

My descr_stat file only has the info about starting cities and info.
My decr_events file has more relevant items but I still can't find instances of floods and earthquakes for Portugal.

I apologize for that.. I had really meant to have stated descr_events... :oops: however, concerning your newly divulged dilemma, I don't know what to tell you..:embarassed: If your problem still persists despite your continued efforts, feel free to appeal for a solution from someone more knowledgable then myself.

Good Luck with this..:sweatdrop:

Oh wait.. I might have the solution you're looking for. .. the reason you may be experiencing natural disasters while playing as portugal is due to the input settings displayed on the descr_disasters file...:yes:

you can find this file in the base folder via Data-->World-->Maps-->Base..

I'm very much positive that this will solve your problem as descr_disasters script concerns random disaster events, which are the ones I believe you are being bogged down by..:ballchain: even better with this is that you don't have to start a new campaign once you modify the file to your liking.

Rest assured your gaming experience be saved now...:2thumbsup:
