Hello everyone, and thank you so very much for allowing me to be a part of this forum. Apart from the standard fare of introducing myself and such, I was sincerely wondering if I could inject a small, personal aside concerning my Medieval II: Total War issues.

If this is the wrong place to do that, I apologize profusely, but looking through your forum lists, I didn't see a technical help forum, so here goes.

I recently purchase Medieval II: Total War and commenced installation, but when I reached a critical point in the Disk 2 portion of installation, I recieved an error message that told me there was a Feature Transfer Error dealie. The affected file is apparently D:\main\sounds\Voice3.dat. It goes on to explain that the error is due to a Cyclic Redundancy Check.

Now, being the resourceful human being that I am, I googled the three word term and found that the culprit is usually a physically scratched or damaged disk. However, no end of cleaning failed to solve the problem.

I was wondering, does anyone have a reliable fix, or if all else fails, would it be at all possible to host a copy of Voice3.dat for me to download and inject into my SEGA folder? It's really quite frustrating to have a game and not be able to play it.

A million thanks,

- me

Welcome to the org! ~

The Apothocary is the tech help forum, but I dont think you can post there yet, but im sure a mod will move the thread there if you post here asking for that.

If its scratches, cleaning might not do it. Try buffing. If you dont have a buffer, best choice may be to wait for it to be moved to the apothocary (on your request) or go down to your local video store and ask them to buff it as a personal favour (failing that, just bribe them)

Good Luck!

Hi,
If the disk is damaged or scratched perhaps you could take it back to the place where you purchased it from. From there you could ask for a refund or a fresh copy. Good luck and welcome. Cheers.

First of all: welcome HelloSir ~

If the disk is scratched, you should get a new one from the shop where you bought it.

For game related technical issues, try the Apothecary.

You can find it here: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=15

If you cannot post there, try to PM one of the mods.

FYI LeftEyeNine is one of our specialists and also an Assistant Mod in the Apothecary.

Welcome to the Org, HelloSir! ~

The guys here have already given you the same two pieces of advice that I would offer myself:

1.) Check the Apothecary (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=15) and see if LEN (or another of our technically-capable members) can help you;

2.) Return it to the store and get a new copy. You might end up having to do this in any case, as I have a hunch there might a physical flaw with the disc (albeit undetectable to the naked eye).

Either way, I wish you luck!
