Dear all,
I would like to ask some question about the pope function.
I currently play a campaign as Byzantines. I have wiped out Hungary, Venice, the Turks are left with to provinces at far East (I spare them to use the as a buffer for the Timurids).
The Mongol invasion has already begun for my surprise in the Middle east (I was expecting the north of Bosporus) and I manage to stop them in my first Heroic ever battle. They came with 3 full stacks against 1 of mine; I gut them out like pigs and left them to rot under the hot sun of Middle East. My plan work perfectly. I waited them by a small rocky passage, I set up my line of defense at the top of a mountain and they had to zig zac going up a slipy slop as my 5 units Byzantine Guard Archers as well as my 4 units of Vardarioratai reined death :skull: upon them. At the end of the road they had to face a wall of spears supporting by Cavalry.
At the west the pope called a war upon me. I decided to lay siege at Rome and make a diplomat of mine to ask him for a truce. The Pope deny my request and on the same turn attacked my stuck with everything he got (not that much thought) I easily defeat him but I did not kill the Pope.
Now the question comes.
Dose the pope need at list one city to keep his Function alive or this rule dose not applies for the Pope?
If the current Pope Dies and a new one is elected where will he show up?
I read some ware that the Pope faction do not get eliminated but transformed to a Horde in order to seek for a new capital. If this is true does anybody knows where the horde will appear and which city will attack?
Thank you all in advance
