View Full Version : When a Princess dies, does her portrait gray out correctly for you?
Not the unimportant princesses, I mean the ones you can use as diplomats. When they die, what do their portraits turn into for you? For me they turn into dead general portraits...
Oh c'mon, people- 10 views and no one has a comment? It's a simple question, what do they look like at your end?
I'm wondering if I somehow screwed up the folder structure of portraits when I unpacked them.

You have to have one dead first. That takes a while ;)

Ack. Double post. And no option for myself to delete it.
Actually I found the odd bug- when you unpack the files at least.
If a princess dies of old age... no problems, her portraits grays over (darkens) this seems to be a function in the game. However, if she "dies in battle." by being aboard a ship that attacks a rebel ship, or "dies tragically" in a storm... her portrait becomes the corresponding general's dead portrait... ICK!
Wonder if CA would ever bother to fix this?

Not a bug. You see... those princesses actually had the "secretly male" trait ;)

More importantly, does it matter? It seems like the whole forum is on a mission to discover new bugs, however minor and unimportant.
If this bug exists, I think CA will throw it to the top of their "to do list", well spotted. :dizzy2: Hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of a good game too much.
I am sorry if I sound a little rude. I don't mean to, but it just seems like everyone is knocking this game. And it doesn't deserve it, it just deserves a little time to be patched. :2thumbsup:

FUnny, when all family members die, their portraits all turn into tombstones with a RIP.

You are being rude because you're not looking at the full context of why a post like this would matter to me, or the history behind the poster... look at my mod. use your brain a little. Why might a detail such as a portrait switching from female to male bother me? If it isn't to your taste, consider moving on and not sharing your rudeness. If it matters to you too a little, confirm the bug or not, be helpful: suggest a workaround or directory structure that worked for you (or doesn't).
How you go from me asking for help and documenting further conditions of the bug to me being just a tooth in the "whole forum [on] a mission to discover new bugs, however minor or unimportant" is beyond me. I know the game better than you, maybe? So I notice more details? Since I also am trying to improve the game? This bug matters a bit to me as I like to look over the family tree (having modded all the family portraits too).
But yeah, whatever, I'm sorry to call you out as rude as much as you are sorry to be rude. :2thumbsup:
I lost a couple of princesses in one of my earlier Portugal campaigns. They both just disappeared in their early/mid 20's so I know they didn't go to the convent. I think they got kidnapped but I didn't get a ransom note or anything. Their portraits just vanished from the family tree. I wasn't able to recreate it in another campaign so I will chalk it up to weirdness.
A different issue that comes up in my current campaign is that if I marry my princess to another faction's family member (not heir), she disappears from my family tree also. The general is controllable by me and I get the occasional notice if they have children. Neither the foreign general, my princess or their child show up in my family tree. So now my family tree is looking a bit barren. More weirdness I guess.
Last thing about princesses. How come the princesses are pretty hot looking but the other daughters and etc are so butt ugly? Doesn't make sense.

The reason I think some princesses disappear when you marry them is that you married them to a faction heir or some other person who can potentially inherit at the other family tree- so your princess goes to their family tree and disappears off yours... it's like an unfinished feature with inheritance that CA never got around to finalizing... or taking back out. So BUG.
And yeah the game assumes that death by violence ='s male character, so use the male portraits as the greyed out ones... damnit.
