Since I am currently playing vanilla M2TW, as I'm having problems with the patch, I was wondering what exactly is the 2-h bug? Does it affect all 2h axemen, 2h swordsmen, billmen, halberds, 2h pikemen etc? Are they worth building at all?
From what I understand, it affects 2-handed axemen - this includes Norse Axemen, Galloglaich, Eagle Warriors, etc. All swords and halberds are ok. I believe billmen are broken. Dismounted knights are affected too. Look around for a fix, there's several floating around that just replace the broken animation with a working one from the demo.
Quick question guys. What eastern units, and Jihad/Crusade units are effected by this bug as i'm quickly throwing together a combined pike/sheild/2-hander fix And I know some of these are bugged but i'm not sure which,
Religious Fanatics
Pilgrims
Tabarayyya(or however you spell it)
Those are the ones i know of.
Thanks Lusted. I've noticed a few people asking for the combination recently so I thought i'd throw somthing together.

it should be noted that a 2H fix by setting the soldier line of the affected units to something different (thus making them borrow another unit's animations) is not really the one most people would say is accepted. The typical fix ala "Zxiang's 2h fix" in fact replaces the actual animation file with one that has the demo animations for these units inserted, as the problem was found to be that the bad animations actually kept the units from being able to attack. Thus, the standard fix in fact should have nothing to do with the EDU file, and I have no idea how that other fix would change things in-game from what the typical one does.
@Foz: the typical fix as I understand it is to give them an unbugged animation from the main game, some people however have got hold of the demo ones and prefer that. Most however seem to use the Zweihandler/JHI animation. And I can't find the Battle_descrp.txt file so if you can tell me how to change the animation without using the solider line i'd like to know.
As an aside: (Allthough TBH looking at it I can't see what else besides animation that bit COULD control. Everything else I can see is accounted for in the EDU file anyway.)

Oh to be sure I have no idea how they actually did it... but I imagine they simply removed the default animations from the file, and repacked it with the demo animations included instead. I think how this all works is that the EDU points at a particular animation set in the animation pack, so changing the soldier line points you to a different set while replacing the actual animation files points the unit at the changed (demo) animations. I personally prefer the way the units look using the demo animations, but AFAIK no one has done an analysis to determine how either fix is different from the other in terms of unit performance.
As for which is preferred in general, I started a 2h fix discussion thread on here not too long ago, and numerous people immediately jumped on saying Zxiang's demo-animation fix was the way to go, so I took that to mean it was most widespread and preferred. This could of course turn out not to be the case though.
Well I don't know about right now, but most of the initial fixs seemed to involve editing the soldier line to the JHI or Zweihandelr from what I can gather. I agree their are some oddities. the Voulgier animation is better than the Halberd_militia one for non-bill units as they actually swing the weapons a fair bit, although you do get odd stabbing moments with voulgiers too.
