MTW/VI Revival Meetings

Since RTW and M2TW our old loved MTW/VI is almost dead. But there are many players who are still interested in playing it. The problem is only that they are not organized.

So we had the idea to set a date and invite all interested players via e-mail or/post the time of meeting in a forum.

We have tested it once and got some 20 experienced players from known clans and we had an interesting evening with very good 4v4 battles.

Friday, 19th at 20.30 GMT we will start our second meeting. The first lasted almost the whole knight, so that our american friends could joined later.

If you are interested in being invited please send me a short message or e-mail or post it in this or in our thread on the Heerbann-hp and you will be invited next time.

I am happy that there were so many Generals following the invitation. We had several hard but therefore very interesting 4v4 battles. It was a pleasure to meet You all again after a long time.


Thanks to all who had informed their clannies and thanks to all who had come and brought this revival-party to success.

I hope this will go on, so that we can keep play VI as long as possible. It is on us all.


Because of some inquiries we arranged to meet every friday at 20 Gmt until further notice. Maybe there are some people who always have to do some tasks at this time and so they have no possibility to join. In that case, we may change the date from time to time. I think first we have to find it out.

So if someone has an idea how to handle it, please tell me.

We have had very good games again, and really a lot of it. It was a pleasure to meet some more old known fellows and had huge, loud and very wild party on the fields... Errrmm... most people would call this party a battle i think. But we had a lot of adventure, adrenalin, some a bit panic ;-)), others the satisfaction of victory over hard opponents and last but not least once more a lot of fun.

I hope more will follow our call "Back to VI" to join our "parties" on the fields. All are welcome.

It was a blast last night suprised we stood up so late. It was another suprise to find RTK there in full strenght. Hopefully I can rally up the Hunters and show up in great numbers next Friday. Games were all excellent all vet teams felt like they were all tournamet games. :2thumbsup:

I am sad to read this. I understand... also me needs a rest from time to time from other things. But MTW/VI it is my rest from my girl and from the night life of my town :inquisitive:

I really like it to see back so many MTW Vi player. There are so many maps, possible rules, seasons, factions etc. It should be always a way to try new things. Hopefully Activision will never switch off our gamespy server.

yea, I used to get there a hour after it started, and some people were leaving,then towards the end I didn't come because I used to wait for a hour and only 2 people would come, and they won't want to have 1v1 because

"I want to do team games....."

How is MTW's/VI Multiplayer community? I'm getting into this game, and want to try some MP eventually. Can somebody sort of explain to me how to get set up for MP?

To play online you will need to set up a free Gamespy account, get one HERE (https://login.gamespyid.com/login.aspx?r=https%3a%2f%2flogin.gamespyid.com%2findex.aspx&sl=)
You will need a registered Online Name, an email address and a password.
These have to be entered on the log in screen along with your VI CD key,
Also, remember to 'tick' the box that says...remember my password...it will save you having to enter your password each time you want to play online.

Browsing around I read on wikipedia that multiplayer is still active, so after a further search I found this thread. Didn't even think people were still playing this game after all these years, and I'm really keen to play a game - that would feel beyond awesome. I played RTW and didn't really like it. Is MTW 2 any good?, and do many old mtw players play that game? Do any of the Silent Assassins/DEATHby crew still play?

Anywayz, would love to catch up and hopefully play a game.

hello, everybody. it's gorilla speaking. recently i got a jetpack, so i found there's no need for me to swing with the vines any more. i become quite heavy. although with global warming and earthquake becoming alarmingly popular, i still got plenty of banana and papayas. this contribute to my weight problem as well. and since the dawn of 20th century, the genetic engineering was so successful, the sugar level of these fruits are getting higher and higher. i don't see a solution to my weight problem. that is very sad. this emotional holes drained my energy and lead to a huge consumption of high sugar fruits binge eating. when i started to worry, i started to look for vines. but my mama could only find a jump rope for me, she said that all the trees are cutting down for banana plantation. vines are no more available for me than those VI players. this deepened my grieve. so i am here to plead all my fellow VI players, please united together and plan more bananas! it's a healthy cost! for me, for you, and for all the primates! i sinsincercely hope that one day, i will be slim again riding jetpack with a vine and dine with you those frozen banana sausages, banana pasta, banana smoothie, banana coke. life will be wonderful again...

Yes server is still up...last night we played past 10pm US central time for at least a couple of hours. I showed up late around 7pm but the majority of guys were playing way earlier than that. We had all and plenty of 4v4 games, simply the best. Today (saturday) is also a good day to play where many show up. Mtw/Vi Revival Meetings are still alive during the weekends...Friday thru Sunday. Im actually going there now...:2thumbsup:

Better ask Caravel if your system will run MTW, Swoosh, in the main hall or apothecary. If you get the Gold edition of MTW/VI make sure you download the 2.01 exe from the .com site and *patch it* to v2.01. The Gold edition is actually v2.0.

The X1950 should run the game ok but you will probably need the "button fix" (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showpost.php?p=1921448&postcount=3) if you plan to play campaigns. For battles (including MP) you should not have any issue. Worst case scenario you may need older drivers.

Have you tried reading the big thread in the apothecary? The campaign map is not that important to you, if you want to play MP right? So unless you have an Nvidia 8xxx or 9xxx series card then you should be able to get battles to run quite well?

You guys in need of a "professional noob?" I am definitely NOT attractive at all, but every bit as hairy as my dear old Uncle_Marius! I see George, Tomi, Marius, Judge, Critter, Shields, T1Master and Duck are playing on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. 20.00 GMT (which would be for me GMT - 5 hours or 15.00 GMT (3 pm Eastern Standard, which is now!) I will have to reload my old VI game. What patch version and/or mods are you guys using? Let me know today and I might be able to play a bit tomorrow (Sunday). In the mean time I will reload VI on this PC.

PS: I also have Empires and now Napolean TW. Actually my son wanted it for his birthday, so I got it for him, with the added benefit dear old dad, gets to play online as well. hehe Gotta love kids . . . they are a great excuse for buying games YOU might like to try!
