I guess I have some kind of obsession with these princesses. This is not a complaint thread but only to list any oddities that have come up in people's campaigns having to do with princesses. Some of these have been posted previously (possibly by me) but I just wanted to put it all together.

1. Sometimes they disappear off the campaign map and the family tree before they would be old enough to be sent to a convent. It happened to me twice in one campaign but not since then. They were in their late 20's and early 30's. I cannot replicate.

2. My princess marries a foreign general or family member (not king or faction heir) and she disappears from my family tree. The foreign general/ family member does not show up on my family tree. The foreign general/family member is fully under my control and I can use him to command my armies. The system tells me when they have children and when a male offspring comes of age, I get another general to command although he does not show up in my family tree. I recall in previous campaigns that when I marry off my princess, both her and her husband use to show up in the family tree. Her husband would either be controllable or not depending if he was a faction heir or regular general/family member. This could have been before the patch but I am not certain. Once my princess disappears after marriage to a foreigner in a campaign, it keeps doing it for all future princesses unless I marry her off to a distant cousin or someone already in the tree.

3. Why are princesses HOT looking while other females SO ugly. It can explain why the ugly only ones don't get many marriage proposals.

4. Has anybody married off their princesses to a Papal general? Just curious.
How about to the Mongols/Timurids/Rebels?

I got bored one day during a campaign(it does happen:laugh4: ), and I toggle_fow and kidnapped about 15 princesses throught Europe and put them all in America with a couple of my diplomats. Lucky diplomats.:2thumbsup: Now it is easier to enter negotiations with them all in one place. It also makes it easier to choose a wife for my heir when the time comes.

So what have you guys discovered?

No, but it's a bit worrying to us all to see someone who is obsessed with a computer character, (no matter how pretty she may be), we want to keep our distance in case it's contagious:smash:.

When does one get a Princess in the first place, the peple in my family tree have loads of daughters, but apart from the one in the beginning I´ve never again had a Princess. Are they the daughters of the current ruler exclusively?

Curent Ruler and Faction Heir only.

They only show up at the begeing of the game so you can run off and cement an alliance early with your neighbors or marry them off to a gen/fachire to get another commander for your army's early . You can also use them as a home guard diplomat and wait for the right guy to come along and offer the world for her (charm) :beam:. I have never recived another princess after the start of the game :inquisitive: :inquisitive: .

Try Denmark, you'll have one thats yet to come of age and the first child of the King is allways a daughter for me.

If you haven't been, you have to continously check your family tree for daughters of your king or heir. If the king or heir dies before the daughter is of age, she will not become a princess. The faction announcement will not tell you that a princess is available but sometimes if she gets some traits or ancillaries, it will be announced.

It shouldn't be too contagious. :laugh4:

Anyone figure out the reasoning to why an unmarried princess disappears from the family tree when she goes off to the convent? Does it have something to do with the social status of women at the time? Just curious.

how does one go about kidnapping a princess?

I think you need to use the move_character command in the TW console. Send them to x,y: 0,180 (or so), and they should pop up in the new world

Dear Chosun:

Greeting from Canada! I hope this finds you and yours well.

This happened to me just last night with Constance, my French princess. A note was sent to me, informing me that she was beyond childbearing years and was sent to live the rest of her life in a convent. It was a bitter pill to swallow, but she did really well as a diplomat for France. When you get that type of message, you open it and hear lots of broken hearted weeping.

Am I to assume you don't read the messages that come down the left side of your game screen?

Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!!

Sincerely yours always,

Indy.

Anyone know what triggers the secret love ancilliary for the princesses? I have yet to have one princess not get one of these jerks! It's killing me!

@Indy1958: Whilst that was my first thought, allow me to quote what he had to say about the matter with some of it highlighted.

They only go to the covenant at 40, and in fact if they are married they can have children all the way upto 55. The game just sends them off at 40.

I built up a super star of a Princess at the beginning of my Scottish campaign through diplomacy and what not. I believe she had about 8/10 charm. Anyway, I figured this would be enough to take my pick of the litter for a new general. Wrong.

I ended up marrying a HRE general with o.k. stats, not extraordinary ones, but he never showed up on my family tree... I did get control of him though, and since then have turned him into one of my top generals. Downside though is he got all these great attributes from my princess (his wife) which should've made their relationship very fertile. But since he's not on my family tree - no kids :wall:

That next patch BETTER fix this sh!t.

If you keep getting marriage offers and keep rejecting them, it seems that was what triggered them for me. I could've had an amazing all-star general (his list of traits had to be atleast a dozen), but she was up in France and I had access to Spanish, Portugese, French and English diplomats to ally and get trade righs with, and didn't want to have to spend several turns getting a new diplomat up there.

Nope, it's just a random chance at the start of each turn. or a random chance when doing negotiations.

Would be intresting to be able to kidnap ANY enemy agent, funny too I imagine, as it would be intresting to have all the dimplomatic reprecussions, and can you imagin the various noises they come up with, (a la the ones you get for captured soilders when you mouse over the release/ransom/execute options:smash:, allthough fr the sake of good tastye I doubt you'd allways have the option of executing a kidnaped agent).

Dear Gang:

Good afternoon from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well.

This discussion brings me to my next questions: 1)How does one find out how old a particular princess is? and 2) How does one find out this info?

Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!!

Sincerely yours always,

Indy.

It's through the family tree icon at the bottom of your faction screen

Capture a princess and cut off all her limbs and send her back?

Carl
03-04-2007, 22:27
LOL no. Rather you could keep her till the enemy ransoms her back, and it wasn't unknown (it happened in england after the norman conquest anyway, don't know about anywhere else), for lords/lades to kidnap a woman/man they wanted to marry and eithier force her/him to marry them, or just hold them whilst the seduced them (it supposed did work a fair few times too).

Mostly I'd like Princess to have even more unique options over diplomats as well, perhaps some non-general/diplomatic related things?

carl, know of anyone who has a mod that helps to reduce how much this secret love thing shows up?

Carl

Mine does it somewhat ATM, and i'm working on playing with the numbers a bit more ATM. I'm mostly waiting for the patch and some BETA testers so I can update it.

Hell, let them rule if all the males in the family get killed off I say. While obviously a male dominated world.. it's still rather annoying how little effect princesses/queens have in the game. Isabella of Castile must be turning in her grave :embarassed:

Good, point, and I agree, In fact you quite quickly got situations in some countries where it was the eldest decendant, male or female that got the throne. Not to mention that history COULD have gone diffrent in a few near losses for womean. Also i'd like to seee ALL female children of the royal family count as rincess, but the distance in relations terms from the current king effects them. This is where things like the extra diffrances from diplomats could come in. in fact it makes pretty poors sense IMHO for princess to be unable to conduct diplmacy after being married. They might not travel as much but i'm sure it would be them and not their husbanmds who entertained geusts.

I personally wouldn't mind Queens ruling countries as it is historically accurate. That would make princesses more important to develop. As I still am not quite sure how the heir system works in MTW2, the whole "choose your own heir" needs to be brought back IMO.
