View Full Version : Help Required: Traiters, Skinners, etc.
Hi, I am tk-421, EB recruiter. As you know, EB has a large team of dedicated modders who work hard to bring you the best product possible. However, we are lacking in several key areas and we need your help!
Traiters- We are proud of our innovative traits and ancillaries system and and BozosLiveHere is working hard to continue bringing you new developments in this area. He needs help though! This is a mammoth task and one man can only do so much. We really could use someone with a great deal of experience, but someone who is detail-oriented, careful, has a lot of free time, possesses a strong work ethic, and can learn quickly will work. Willingness to continue working on eventual port to MTWII is also highly encouraged.
Germanic Historian- We need someone who can help us to continue developing the Sweboz faction by researching ideas for traits and ethnicities, finding real protogermanic names, writing descriptions for units and buildings, and do other things that faction coordinators typically do. Access to scholarly materials on the subject and willingness to help with EB2 are necessary. Being German is a good thing, but not required.
Skinners/modellers- Many wonderful units have been made and are continuing to be made for EB, but we can use some help in this area. We particularly need someone who can work on African, Arab, Nomadic, and Eastern units.
What do you need to do skinning? I imagine modelling requires 3dsmax or something similar?
Also, does EB have any resources of their own they use for traiting? I saw the team needed help in that area before, but from just cruising around the org, a lot of the information I found seemed a bit vague, leaving a lot to trial and error, with much of the latter.
Few talents I have are dwarfed by anything in EB, beyond my meager league.

Yep, I'm making of bunch of skins to fill the vacant general and standard bearer spots, but I'm sure nothing I make will apporach EB quality.
Plus the 30 day trial is running out...:sweatdrop:

I would like to help, but I think I am not the best qualified.
I am going to buy a Osprey and maybe others book about the Germanic warrior theme, but were I live the Libraries and bookstores are not the best to dont say another word. I think that here in the forum a lot people must have that books.
Besides I am not German nor speak any Germanic language to translate texts. I think there must be a German here who can get a lot of info from their libraries.
Yea, it is very hard to find info for the ancient germans. I signed up to do descriptions for the Sweboz once and I could find no information at all about them.

How about you post a screenshot.

Uhh you must understand that my skinning consists of ripping textures off other EB units and pictures from google, then pasting them over other skins, and blending them in. So for instance, I took the Greek standard bearer (whose model files are currently missing it seems...) and replaced the armor, the flag, the shield, the arms and legs, ect, with other textures so now I have a Carthage Standard Bearer, same model, just reskinned.
I'm about to take pieces Saba Citizen cavalry skin and redo the King's bodyguard, rather than using the placeholder from Carthage. This efforts consists of doing exactly the same, simply replacing the head, armor, and such using some pieces of the Citizen Cavalry, and others from I don't know where yet...
I wouldn't have the slightest clue how to make a skin fit a model, unless it was in the format of the normal RTW skin.
So yeah, below is the Carthage Standard bearer... you should notice pieces from other skins...basically none of that took any skill except the shield, which the design off one shield is blended into another. All the credit goes to the guys who actually made the skins. Yes I know, I plagiarize like crazy. Don't look if you know plagiarism will burn out your virgin eyes!

Now, I just need to decide whether or not to make the helmet silver...
Anyways, I'm wasting your time, I really can't skin, but my stuff will make good placeholders for me!

What program do you use? Adobe CS2?

At least you're honest about it.
TK, I'm interested in trying to help with the traits
I don't have *much* experience (I did a little for the WoT mod before that died and some extra to personalise the Gallic tribes for my vanilla campaign) with the traiting system however, so I'll spend a couple of days seeing if I can get to grips with the basic system (although the EB one is no doubt much larger) and then post here again.
Bringing this thread back to life.
Tanit, one of our Carthaginian leaders, is asking fo some help. Any volunteers would be doing the same thing as outlined in the Germanic historian description above only with Carthaginians.

I know about Carthage, but I am not a historian.
I speak spanish so I can do research in English and Spanish texts about the theme. I have a very good book in Spanish about the Phoenician culture.
