Has the development team for EB considered editiong the Sons of Mars campaign from the vanilla RTW? Factions included could be Epirus, Carthage?, Rome, the Koinon Hellenon (representing generic Greeks, rather than an actual alliance), and a Gaulish faction. Perhaps a few factions could be relabeled as well, so that the Samnites and Etruscans can have factions.
Im pretty sure they haven't as the sons of mars was a tutoral campaign and most peopl ewho play EB already knew how to play the game before they modded it...

Of course, ironically the sons of mars campaign was far harder than any Roman family in vanilla.

It would be a neat mini campaign, or perhaps a introduction, but this is something that either a addon is in place for, or possibly a 1.0 thing.

I think that this would be extremely fun. Of course, it would not be a tutorial, but a campaign of its own. It could be a detailed campaign about Rome's coming to dominate Italy. It could have many factions including the previously mentioned Etruscans, Aedui, Greek colonies, Epiros (maybe as an emergent faction once the Tarantines or whoever call upon Pyrrhos for help), Samnites, and probably a separate faction representing each major Italian city or alliance of cities. The map could be expanded in size to fit more cities and provinces within the same sized geographical area, and the time scale could be set to a month or two per turn.

Tiny problem of faction limits, you'd have to drop main campaign factions to include that, and you'd have problems with getting the AoRs right because of building complex limits.

My point exactly. Double or triple the cities on the map and add some new factions.

Yeah, but doesn't BI replace some factions for it's late campaign? I'm thinking something like how MTW vanilla had some factions disappear and new ones emerge to replace them depending on what scenerio you were playing.
Or is it impossible to replace a faction with a new one for a mini-campaign without nixing the entire original faction altogether?
I'm not thinking of this as a tutorial. I'm thinking of this as a way to expand and explore the period where Rome was coming to conquer italy in the first place.

Try the Penninsulae Italica mod if youd like to play that :)

The prologue will be completly removed from EB in 0.81. To do it in EB quality a Sons of Mars style campaign would require a new map, adopted scripts, lot's of research for accurate starting position, family members etc. or simply would require to many ressources that would lack to complete the main campaign and some EB members more interested in other areas could claim a provincial campaign for them as well.
Also a conquest of Italia campaign would overlap with the main campaign. A carthage vs. Syrakus campaign on an enlarged sicily map would perhaps be better suited.
Generally I think it would be very nice to have provincial prologue campaigns, would be something great for a minimod, maybe a simplified camp. without scripts. Something as Spoonfrog's Sicilian Campaign Map for vanilla R:TW from 2005. Before I joined EB I had begun to enlarge to include carthage and planned an EB version. Would be fantastic if somebody could something similar.

Again, I direct anyone interested to this mod. Signifer One and his guys have done fantastic.
The first is their new Italica map in relation to the Sons of Mars map and the Vanilla campaign map.

No, I dont think so anyway. Theres been several previews of the various factions and their units however, the Italic tribal factions and units are very nice, as is the level of depth in their buildings, etc. The new Roma map is supposedly going to be included in the mod when it is released, along with a Syracuse, and some others last I recall.
Making even a small minimod requires a lot of work.I would rather see something like "a historical battle with the campaign map before it starts"mod. It could be 100% scripted campaign even without a player control during the campaign. In this case campmap is needed only to show the geographical position of the battle(or even series of battles?),maybe to get information of generals and other historical stuff&events(via traits and advices).accompanied by a great introvideo, this would be coooool!
Ah,dreams..:)

I think it's a good idea but we just don't have the resources, and as stated other mods are doing similar things.
