Hi guys,
Sorry to bother you but I was just wondering if the Org administrators/moderators have any future plans for large or small scale change in the workings of the Org. It's not that it really needs any change, the Org is perfect the way that is is, I'm just wondering. Thanks guys.

Well, Im not a mod nor an admin, but i think the org should follow the style, without changing nothing.

The people of the Org love Tosa. Why? Because of 2 things:
1. PERFECT FLAWLESS INCREDIBLE maintenance of the forum.
2. Joker. :beam:
I thought I'd raise this (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=1418236) issue here to save starting a new thread. Question: Have we started having elections for Assistant Moderators now?
In general, no, and imo it'd be a bad idea.
In the mp forums it's a different issue though - community expertise can be useful in running them thanks to a knowledge of the clanning community that Rob simply doesn't have (not being a mp player himself).
When it comes down to it, it was Rob's decision, and as he chose to do it this way that's fine. While it may not seem like the best idea, if it works for him we should have no problem with it.
No normal Orger visits the MP forums, those are for the MP community only, mostlikely only MP players will vote there and thus you get MP mods for the MP community who are backed up by that community.
What would you rather have:
An old football player in charge of the UEFA or someone from some business who never played football and only wants to make it more commercial?
I was simply curious as to the reasoning behind it all. It does indeed make perfect sense for Rob to find an Assistant Moderator from among the regular patrons of the forum in question, I'm just not entirely convinced that a public poll is the right way to go about it.
Nor am I, tbh, but it's his choice

If the old player in question is Michel 'No Tackles' Platini, I'll take the businessman.
Electing AM has been done before. Frogbeastegg was the first AM and elected too.
And was also done for MP AM's 2 1/2 years ago or so.

We weren't talking about names now were we :whip:

Thanks. :2thumbsup:
I'm not against an election as such, just a public one, where strategic voting can come into play, which is not in the interests of either the candidates nor the members IMHO.
The M2TW MP is not really a forum that I frequent, and thus not really any of my my business, so I'll leave it at that.

I understand Caravel. Making a poll hidden is not a normal option. I should have coordinated that better, sorry.

Sometimes I just itch to respond to threads I really have no business sticking my nose into, I don't hang in the mp forums so I don't even have one leg to stand on, but I will interject this minor point.
My personal opinion about voting AMs aside, just because they are voted into a position doesn't mean they are now 'AM For Life'. I'm sure the moderator who ran the election, or TosaInu (or god as I like to think of him), has the ability to strip the elected AM back down to one of us grunts if found out to be less than suitable for the position.
Luckily for us, the Forums aren't a democracy so we don't have to bother with trying to impeach such a person.
If I can how is the fellow we are refering to working out? Hope the poor guy doesn't take all of this to heart.
*pulling nose out of other people's business*
About selecting some place, why not a hidden poll who only can see the AM, M, FA, and SM?
Im not sure
if you ask me, if FrogBeastEgg makes a MTW2 beginner's guide, this place will explode with newcomers

Well I don't want to go too far in speaking for her, but I think our resident Froggy is far busier than she used to be -- I doubt she has much time to write up guides like she used to. (And she was pretty busy even back then! How she ever managed to find time to write that first Beginners Guide, I don't think we'll ever know. :dizzy2: )

The forum and general community of the Org is really great, probably the best I've seen on the web. However, I find that the main page could really do with a makeover. That Org logo takes up way too much space and there isn't even a section on M2TW, which is really sucks as the rest of the site is so good. Does anyone share my opinion?
I don't look at the front page :grin2:

Is there even main page?
http://www.totalwar.org/
though I think most people just bookmark the forums sections. It is probably first part you get coming from links on other sites / search engines though and I would agree with OliverWKim that it could do with a makeover. Compressing the amount of space taken up by the logo so you see some of the more interesting content without having to scroll down would help.

wait...theres a totalwar.org?
:laugh4:
I just go to the forums, i think ive looked at that page once.
Well for as much as I'm an "old-fart" veteran (I'm all of 30 ~) and like things "just the way they are", I agree that the front page of the Org could probably use a revamp. (Indeed, if I had any abilities in website design & construction, I would volunteer myself for the job.)
I don't have a problem with how the page looks per se -- I rather like the aesthetics -- but I do confess it's not the most user-friendly site I've seen. Aside from the forums themselves, trying to find stuff there isn't always the most straightforward experience. I also agree with OliverWKim that we really do need to update the site to include a section for Medieval 2. The game's been out for over 4 months now, which IMHO is long enough to warrant its own space on our website.

Case in Point:
They still haven't updated the front page of the Org to talk about M2TW: Kingdoms even when it was announced like 2 weeks ago. I really think this site could do with some serious updates.
What is this "Front page" you are all talking about? There are only these forums, aren't there? :inquisitive:

Nope, if you look one page backwards, you'll see Makayane answering Tran's question, which is the same as yours.
Ahhhhh, the legendary front page, as infamous as GAH! itself. One can reach the front page by mounting one's camel and leaving the forums via the north gate. Three days journey and you will find yourself, not too worse for wear, at front page (old orgish, "vrunthpeyge" which literally signifies "the foremost leaf" or in not so-old-orgish, "causes fear to horses"). I suggest you leave an offering to the shrine of Sjo-ghun and also visit the dhoan-lowdes which is very good this time of year.

Is it reachable by horse or on foot as well? I'm allergic to camels...
It is blashpemy to enter the sacred passes on anything non camelid. At the worst you will have to hire yourself a camel and place upon your nose a peg, or borrow a Moderator's Turban. Just one moment...

Yes, I have 'discount' beast going at present, only 30,000 florins for the week?

I wish to sign up for Admin. I will accept a 2 year contract with wages around 52750 florins per week, and also a clause for contract extension, for 2 years.
I must say that yes the front page could do with a re-vamp.

Your offering yourself for sacrifi...I mean, offering to revamp it?

If the community wills it, I could quite easily maintain the news...

Yeah, that would be great. Updates are rather infrequent. And while you're at it, could you reskin the main page or something? That would be really great.

Skinning is not my thing.

You could stop playing Supreme Commander and learn skinning.
Is it okay if I start a new thread here in Watchtower about Org main/front page to attract more people attention? You know, the same has been done to Gahzette and now it's back alive! The same could be done to the Org main page, I believe
