since i cant post in the appropriate forums ill just post here.
ive pretty much made up my mind. i am going to buy a console! (oh how my old self would see me now)
question is which one? i got money to spend so price wont be THAT much of a problem.

i heard there will be a new xbox360, should i just wait for that to come out?
i heard the ps3 doesnt support ALL HDTV sets...i checked and it looks like my hdtv set isnt supported. will it matter anyways? as long as the game looks sharp and err sharp then is should be good right?
the ps3 has blu-ray, blu-ray players cost $$$$ atleast. its like the ps2 having dvd playback.
the xbox360 has a lot of games, im interested in some of em
the ps3 has few games, im interested mostly in fighting and rpgs there.

the ps3 is hard to find in my area, los angeles
the xbox360 is easy to find in my area.

thoughts people?

if money is not a problem, then i would go for the PS3.

the console is way better than the xbox360 in hardware terms and offcourse the blue-ray player.

the wii could be a choice if you like crazy fun games and value fun gameplay over incredible graphics.

and for the RPG : oblivion and FFXIII are coming to the PS3!
and in the meantime you could play RPG's from the PS2 like roque galaxy, dragon quest and Final fantasy.

If you're just entering the console thing: Playstation 2. Cheap and has an awesome library.

next gen evaluation:

Wii: the new hotness, but seems a bit gimmicky, and not too many deep games (excluding Zelda).

PS3: Expensive, not many interesting games.

Xbox360: Kinda expensive, starting to have a decent library, decent online (you have to pay though), most units break down within a year.

Hmmmm My personal choice ( I don't have one) and the choice of most of the people I know is the 360. I won't go into all the details but to me it seems to be the best pick of the bunch.

I own all the last gen consoles and I also have a 360. I am waiting until June for the Wii and I have no desire for the PS3.

The XBox 360 gets you a good unit with a very solid back library of games (both Xbox and XBox 360 games) for $400 that also supports HD but doesn't require it (I understand the PS3 isn't worth it without HD or HDMI). All cross platform games will have an XBox 360 version. XBox Live truly extends the capabilities of your gameplay by allowing multiplayer, content download and patches where needed for a reasonable annual fee (approx $60 I believe). The current lineup of exclusive games is also very strong - Morrowind and Gears of War are tons of fun, and Halo 3 will be here by year's end.

The PS3 doesn't interest me at $600 (at $400 it might). I do want to play Gran Tursimo 5, the new Ratchet & Clank and Jak games, but not much other exclusive content excites me on that platform. For that reason alone, I can't justify the $600. The back catalog of games is fantastic for that system. I am not sure about the online options.

I also want a Wii but until Smash Bros and Metroid come out in June, I can wait. The $250 price tag is definitely worth it for the exclusive titles - Zelda, Mario, Fire Emblem, Metroid, Star Fox. The controllers are cool and the online games (the older Nintendo titles) sound worthwhile. Nintendo's main problem - to me - is the cross platform support. They will not always see every game. Some third party developers don't build for the Wii. Because of that, I wouldn't get a Wii as my only console. As a second console, the first party games will be well worth the money.

I hope that helps...

In my opinion wait on the ps3(im a sony fan) i bought it first day out not to many games get the 360 or get the wii( most likly the wii) wii is cheaper and that means u can save up some extra cash so if u get enought later on get the ps3 when its library is huge and when most bug/glitches are worked out. wii is quite a bit of fun but the games arnt that indepth and seem to copy alot of gamecube/N64 games (gotta look through its already big library)

Xbox 360. The new rainbow six is godly and halo 3 will only be avaiblable on that console. Oh, and they are also making Resident Evil 5 for xbox 360. Overall, great console.

I do have a soft spot for nintendo's WII though, just because zelda is an awesome game. (currently in the progress on playing off my friend's)

I'd buy both if I had the money, but unforuantely I'm a poor college student in debt saving for another European trip with friends this summer.

IMO go for the Wii. They give you exercise whilst you are playing and are great for multiplayer. However, the 360 has a vast selection of games and all these games a great. The loser in this case is the PS3. Think of how many times the release date has been put back due to the blueray playing up. Sure you will have the cutting edge of technology but for what price.
Console - £400
Games - £50- 60 a piece
Add-ons such as network playing and headsets and controls will cost just as much as the games.

Go for the Wii ~:thumb:
