I'm given to understand that when the daughters of the royal family come of age, they appear on the campaign map as agents under your control. Though the Moorish Sultanate and it's attendents are popping out kids at least once a year, and I have a fantastic number of young men coming of age on a regular basis (Four, maybe Five in the last ten years) I have no princesses at all. Any insight as to why this might be?
Only Christians get princesses I think. And then only the daughters of the faction leader and faction heir.
Muslim factions don't get princesses as agents (They're being kept segragated from men in preparation for marriage I suppose).
Christian - faction leaders daughter aka princess
Muslim - to many wifes so first wife`s daughters are "mariable" to some randomly selected generals ... you should get 1 ewery 3-4 turns ...
In the manual, it says that Princess is available to Catholic and Orthodox factions.
This is shocking!!!!
I didn't get a single princess (as agent) in 147 years as the English (start 1000, 2 turns/year). I was led to believe that the English can't have princess as agent. 8 Kings and none of them had a daughter?
Only the daughters of the current faction leader become princess agents, the rest just stay on your family tree until they snag a suitable catch.

Luck of the draw really. Personally I tend to get tons of princesses. Though I do wish they had more use. Right now it's really hard to get them above 2-3 in charm. And the AI seems even worse off, with princesses rarely above 1 charm. The fact you only get to use them till their 35-40 years old doesn't help either.
Then again I wish women in general had more effect on the game. While an age dominated by man, there were a number of very powerful women around at the time. Within the time span of the game there was Isabella of Castile, the timespan of the game isn't far away from the reign of Elizabeth I. Both women easily as powerful as any man.
