The main character of the C for Vendetta commics, V, took his inspiration from the gunpowder plot. Remember: remember, remember the 5th of November, the gunpower, treason and plot. I know of no reason, why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.

However the story of V, isn't about Guy Fawkes and the gunpowder plot. It is about V, a sort of terrorist, a somewhat anti-heroe. Who plans on destroying the parlaiment and the government in a fictional facist London of the near future. For a more detailed summary, try wikipedia.

If you are interested in the commics, you might want to take a look at the movey, with Hugo Weavings as V. The story isn't complete, a lot is left out and somethings are changed,... A lot claim that the movies are horrible and that the commics are much better. However I personally think, the commics are indeed better, but the movie is far from bad. I even like the fact that they talked about America's war in the movie and stuff. In anyway I can recommend both the mive and the commic books.
