Who plays it?
What are your qualifications/badges?
But most importantly, any tips for a newbie?

Take a look at that link.
If you have more specific questions, fire away.
Ugh. I tried a couple of times to play AA before. It sounded like a great game 'cause it's free, is online multiplayer, looks decent, and is supposedly realistic. 'tall sounds great, but...
I really wanted to be a medic. So after I've gone through all the necessary trainings and such, I go online to put it into practice. But really, it wasn't that great.
The ranks and such can be intimidating. And the realism is a bit too much. It takes little to take you down, so it's all a matter of who sees who first and gives the good shot.
I always download it, install it, go online for a little while, and then uninstall it, hah hah :P
I'll try it out again, and maybe do the same thing again :laugh4:

It is frustrating to start. I learned quickly to use cover all the time though. Smoke grenades help as well.
The main problem for me is sniping. I qualified with expert marksman rank in basic training, then moved on to advanced marksman training. I qualified with both rifles. The problem is that there are only one or two, and sometimes no, slots available. Since my honour is so low, as I just started, I can rarely get a sniper position in a squad.
That sounds ugly. I think the game needs a bit more leeway and such. I think their so-called "realism" (which is still censoring and slightly false) is in the way of the fun factor found in other games.
I just tried to play online, but for some weird reason I get a 'Prior Kick/Ban' thing showing up. I think 'thas to do with PB, but I'm not sure 'bout it. Starting problems like these just turn me off to play this game :wall:

There ARE servers with PunkBuster disabled, if you can find them.
Another problem with some servers is the ROE. You can have three hundred points towards your next honour level, and then if some idiot on your team walks on a grenade you threw, even though you warned them, you lose those three hundred points you worked for right away. I lost an honour level because of that.
It is still a fairly good game though, once you get used to it.
Hmm, thing is I was actually trying out the "Explore the Army" option where you can just jump into a server (since I want to get used to it a bit 'fore I really start to play). There was only one, and it had one player who constantly kept going off and on. Same happened to me. And it happened on normal servers in the past too.
That's kinda stupid, though, how some people make mistakes like that. You'd almost think it's on purpose :P
Maybe I should manually update PB.

I'd recommend creating an account, even to get used to the game. Going through basic training, if you haven't, is a great way to sharpen up. Training is fun, in general, except for the live jump on Airborne training and the lectures in Medic training.
I got my honour level back quickly, fortunately, and I'm close to 12 honour.
Ah! I remember that live jump training. I just did it over and over, and still got a broken leg. They just made it too annoying.
But you know what's messed up about that training you gotta go through? I mean, I know the controls and how to play FPS, but if you just make one little mistake, even if it's so stupid and petty, you gotta do the whole mission over again! I accidentally moved on the front towards the next weapons training spot instead of 'round the back, and BOOM, you failed (even if nobody else was training atm. Or I accidentally fired a rifle grenade at a target which wasn't allowed, but it was unclear if you were allowed - not well shown. Sucks.
Ahh, I'll see :)

I and Sinan are both veteran AA players. We've played the game for more than three years, sometimes a little on and off. We have an honour level in the eighties I think 83 and 85.
If you have specific questions on a map or to do something please ask. Btw, here is links to our tracker profile;

Punkbuster kinda ruined the game for me.
My computer couldn't handle the graphics, so it would display little/no fog on Bridge Crossing (my favourite level). Eventually I was "ratted out" by all the honour servers so I had to go play on non-PB servers and everyone was just cheating there so it got boring.

The old Skafsgaard.
I didn't play for quite some time, I should play again, but without anyone I know it's not as much fun.
That's me (http://aaotracker.com/usertracker.php?userid=87603) for the record.:sweatdrop:

I going to try to play AA, so if I cna get it to work, we can play then :2thumbsup:
Those user tracker informations are looking good, all of you are sergeants, heh heh :2thumbsup:
Hmmm, yeah, I've got a question: what are the best friendly servers for noobs to get the hang of it? I mean, most games I learn quickly, but THIS? It's a bit overwhelming :dizzy2:
Gonna be playing CoH anyway, while trying to perform my other duties, but I'll try to chip in the AA part when I can.
edit:
And the controls for running/walking/sprinting/etc. are really bad. It's unnecessary complication afaik.
There used to be a Noobs Server back when I first play AA. It wasn't exactly noobs friendly sometimes. The server restricted to 15 honors or less, so some people keep violating ROE so they won't go over 15 honors. Hate to get killed for no reason.
I had some great fun with AA for a while, but a few things turn me off so I stop playing for over a year ago. I was thinking of getting the new version and start playing again sometimes, but I haven't had time for it yet.
