For the sake of the safety of our younger members, yes.
For the sake of people wanting to have a live, no
You can't moderate chat, only hope that we will all behave properly

Yesterday I was warned not to go in because there were too many younger members around, spamming the place.:juggle2:

Yes Han and a couple other are really bad like that.:help: But I voted no cause it's not really going to help anything.

Agreed, though I don't use it so it doesn't apply to me... so GAH! :beam:
I'd say give the mods and senior members op status and let them sort it out when they're online
A lot of you I've never even seen in the chat.

How do you moderate a chat channel, except by censoring swear words?
I've been to the chatroom a couple of times, but nobody's ever there.

Right place, wrong time or so.
Most people are there during evening to night here in Europe, that is 20:00 and later.
I usually don't go there before 22:00.
CHANSERV is back.
When did he leave? I noticed this week or so that he was gone.
We leaved days ago. When Discovery1 came in, he repleaced CHANSERV.
You came twice to the chat.
he repleaced CHANSERV.
I doubt anyone should be able to do that.

He did it.The IRC chat didnt say:Discovery1 joined tworg
he joined, CHANSERV changed the name to Discovery1.
I maked a whois, then it said Discovery1.
Seems a bug.

Might just be Disco playing around though, changing his name and all.
:balloon2:
My guess is that one could only do that when the CHANSERV is already gone.

CHANSERV leaves every once in a while and if there is no one in there then the next person to come in is automatically oped and from there it goes Chanserv doesn't come in after that unless everyone is gone.
It's really better if one of the members is the op. Except for some Han for instance or someone really immature that goes around kicking everyone.

I don't think it's humanly possible.

Well I don't use the chatroom, but there are certain things attached to Chatrooms in that they are known for being free chat without any boundaries, and I believe as such it should be above the law, so to speak.

I answered "gah" myself, I don't know what to answer.
Thing is if I realise that the forum doesn't give me what I'm looking for, delightful information on the totalwar games, but just people "having fun on the internet wherever they please", I would simply stop coming here, regretfully. And this drives me to answer yes. If you try to go everywhere, you end up going nowhere
But on the other hand, this is not about all the forum, but just the chat room, and I figure that if someone's endlessly corrected, edited or moderated, they could get angry or bored, and worse, some other guys posting good stuff in the appropriate threads but wanting to have idle chats someplace else in the same forum could go away. And btw, I've seen more than one signature containing "political" content that could easily officially offend several people... And this drives me to answer no. If you don't give people enough freedom, they're less creatives!
As I'm not particularly schocked by strong words, but would like to see this forum keeping its purpose, I can only stand between the bucket of water and the bucket of food, and answer: :gah2:

How are you going to moderate the chat? You're not going to be able to spend more than a couple of hours a say on there, if that, and when you weren't there, people would do whatever they wanted.
I do miss the chat, I have to admit. I can't go in there any more as my University connection goes through a proxy that doesn't allow IRC.

You can't use Java?

My thoughts exactly. I say give someone the job, and see how long he/she lasts. Personally I think I would go mad within the first ten minutes...

I said yes. I havent had any trouble in there, but ive only been there with a few members (ichigo, Patriach, Disco et all) but if a flaming type person came, my young fragile 16 year old mind might not be able to take swear words.
yes for the younger kids.
