View Full Version : Very Polite Armies - Any thoughts?

I have bribed two cities in a short little campaign I'm trying to speed through with Saba. When I bribed the first one, my soldiers (that I bribed along with it) for some reason stepped outside the city during the AI turn. I thought, "that's odd, maybe I told them to move or something and didn't realize it". I just moved them back in then as it was empty. It didn't rebel or anything in the meantime.

But now I bribed another one - it was Ptolemaic - Ptolemais-Theron. And I had almost a full stack of soldiers in it (no general). A Ptolemaic general with one unit was standing outside. Well, when I hit "end turn", what did I see but my army pack up its bags, move outside the city walls, and the Ptolemaic general just stepped right on in, siezing the city. I got no messages about the city revolting. I did get these:

Rioting! (Ptolemais Theron)
Settlement Occupied (Ptolemais Theron)

Does anyone know what in the world this could be? Ever seen this happen before? I'm asking out here instead of in the team board, because it seems pretty rare, and I have not heard our guys speak of it before.

Yes i have seen this before, the army that was bribed within the city just steps out after you compete a turn. It does seem to be an intermittent bug that could be a 1.5 issue. I have also seen the bribed general within the city just die one or two turns after the bribery. I did wonder if it had something to do with the unmovable trait that is added to the rebel general, as i have only seen this death issue with rebel family members.

Yes, that rebel general dieing also happened to me once too - PLUS it killed my family member in the city too. Upon reload they lived though. Very glad that someone else has seen this happen.

Decimation might stop them doing it again.

Wait, you're not the Romans.

I do mass bribing, and I see the bribed general die all the time, and the army steps out. No idea what causes it, I thought it was pretty odd, but I didn't think it was worth reporting.

Hi,
I am not really sure, but I think this occurs when a terified general is afraid of the rioters. In that case he runs away from the city to the nearest safe space as if he has been defeated. Cheers!

TA,

The problem, I believe, is that the settlement may have been revolting before you bribed the city. I've noticed it a couple of times myself; a city is revolting during the opponent's turn, and in my turn when I bribe it it continues to revolt and kicks out my army as if there's been a civil revolt.

I don't know of any way to correct it, I think it's hardcoded.
