I've been fairly successful at making changes to the descr files so far but I'm still stuck on a few things and wondered whether anyone knows how to:

- Fix experience gain for units when recruited in presence of a guild or other building giving an experience bonus (e.g. higher barracks training high exp units or guilds/jousting lists giving exp boni)
Currently, sometimes units are recruited with the right amounts and at other times with no experience and offered for retraining (which does nothing but drain florins). Example: trained armoured sergeants in batches of 2 in Corinth. first batch had 1 exp each, second batch no exp, 3rd batch 1 exp each.

- Change turns between crusades/jihad. Or at least expand the regions where such can be declared on. Especially automatically by the AI (the AI only ever calls jihad on baghdad and crusade on toulouse)

- Fix amrour upgrades so they actually are possible. I.e. some units can have 2 upgrades and have everything properly specified in the descr units but can only be upgraded once (bronze).

I haven't seen anything on fixing this one, but you might want to start in the EDB (export_descr_buildings.txt) as it's building-based. TBH though I think the problem is in the hardcode, as someone would've spotted a problem in the EDB by now if there was one, in all likelihood.

- Change turns between crusades/jihad. Or at least expand the regions where such can be declared on. Especially automatically by the AI (the AI only ever calls jihad on baghdad and crusade on toulouse)

Actually this is not quite correctly. The number of possible targets the AI will choose is a bit low, but I think it must have some method of analysing the best target, as people report widely different results for what crusades get called against. If I recall what I read correctly, whichever file lists the resources for the regions of the game lists a hidden one of crusade or jihad (don't quote me on the words, I just know it's for the possible targets) for regions that are allowable AI targets for one or the other. Toulouse is one, but other historically, strategically, and logistically important places are included. If you want more info, there's a thread (I think in the Citadel) titled something like "What's so important about Toulouse?" that's been delving into crusade targets and associated game mechanics pretty well.

- Fix amrour upgrades so they actually are possible. I.e. some units can have 2 upgrades and have everything properly specified in the descr units but can only be upgraded once (bronze).
Wanna quote some example units from the EDU? I'm gonna guess this is due to unspecified or non-existent models for the upgrade levels, but seeing the unit text will help me a lot.

I checked all the txt files in the data folder after unpacking already and couldn't find stuff on those, which is why I posted :)
Guess the first one is unfaxable then as EDB does list em as experience 1 and they therefore show up properly in the building description and are sometimes (very rarely) trained at the right exp level, but not always and those which aren't cannot be properly retrained.

as for point 3, i'll give you some examples once I get back home.
