Hello,

I have both Rome, BI and Alexander and found out about this EB-mod yesterday. Now how do I know what version of the original Rome I have? I run Rome but didn't see any numbers. I also tried to install the BI patch 1.6 but it couldn't install because it didn't found some exe-file. What does this mean for installing EB (downloading it right now)?

RTW is version 1.0
BI is version 1.4
Alexander is version 1.7 (I think)

You can do either of the following:

Install RTW, install patch 1.3, install patch 1.5, install EB (point to the same directory that you've installed RTW in).

or

Install RTW, install BI, install patch 1.6, install EB (point to the same directory that you've installed RTW in).

Patches can be found here:

For some reason it worked right away. Since I havn't patched any game in the Rome TW series, the 1.5 patch must be inherent in either BI or Alexander. Funny it's not mentioned anywhere. Anyway, thank you for the answer.

I noticed that the strategic map is much slower than on BI or Rome. It also takes longer for the computer the make the other factions moves. Is this normal or is there anything you can do about it?

lag is normal, but worth it!

the lag is normal. The engine is pushed to its limits in many areas. Thousands of new names, descriptions, hundreds of new images, units, etc.

Ok, the lag is for sure worth it. The game is absolutely great! One more question though. I read that the game plays best in Very Hard/Medium. Do you mean strategic or battle for very hard level? I play now with hard/hard and while the battles are challenging enough the expansion (I'm roman) seems to go almost too easy. Is there a way to change difficulty level during a campaign?

The recommended difficulty settings are:
Very Hard for Campaign game
Medium for battles

For most factions Medium is more than challenging enough, but for the more civilised factions (Rome, Karthadast...)
I would suggest putting it at least at Hard, but that's just my opinion :clown:

So the first one is always the campaign, good to know. Do you know if it's possible to change difficulty in the middle of a campaign or should I start all over? Cartagho fell without any decent resistance and I don't want it to be too easy.

There is a little program called RomeSage that claims to be able to change level of difficulty once the game is started, but I know almost nothing about it, and it's not been tested by EB members on EB, so I can't vouch for it at all.

Ok, I'll start all over. This game is so good it has to be played properly.
