I was wondering does becoming another nations vassal, apart from making you a portrait of a royal milk sop, have any negative affects? It seems that it is just an easy way of getting peace when the chips ar down or you cant be bothered to fight a war.

If you have over 15k at the end of a turn the balance gets tributed to them, and your territories count towards theirs in terms of the win, but other then that there's no ill effects.
