View Full Version : Query - Unit Experience Upgrade Glitched?

M2TW v1.1 with no other mod installed.

Playing as England, after I have built the Woodsmen's Guild HQ, I was offered the option to upgrade all archers' experience. Likewise, with the Torney Field to upgrade the Cavalries.

When I put those units to the Retrain queue and hit the End Turn button, the units will become more experienced when the next turn begins.

The problem is, if I put the units on Retrain queue, save the game and reload, then hit End Turn. Now the units will never be upgraded. The only way for the upgrade to work is to first take those affected units off the queue, then place them back on.

It's fine if I only had 7 or 8 cities, but if it is 30+ cities we are talking about, then it truly become an inhumane task!

Can someone confirm this glitch? Perhaps provide a quick fix for it?

Hi Sapi! Thanks for the quick reply.

Good, now we know that it is indeed a bug, then I wonder if someone can provide any quick fix for it. I can't believe CA let this one slipped by on patch 1.1.:furious3:

Surely, I don't think I am the only one who find this bug seriously hamper the gaming experience.

i hope it was recognised before this because i have had headaches with it since i started playing and the bad thing is that if you dont watch it your settlements will automate retraining and you get a money leak because you dont even know its doing it.

Indeed.

I went so far as try to completely ignore the experience upgrade, but then sometimes it's hard to distinguish between armor/weapon/XP upgrade in the retraining queue.

I was hoping to hear how other players deal with this bug. I guess we can only hope CA decide to fix it in the upcoming patch. For now, let's just have a laugh about it:laugh4::

"The Holy Bible may preach peace, but when it is gamers' fun that is threatened, then it is every gamer's duty to defend it. My Holiness the GWGRO(Guy Who Got Ripped Off), have called a Crusade to reclaim our hard-earned cash from the money hungry game studio, who would deny gamers their rights to enjoy the game properly. It is time for the army of gamers to put aside their differences and unite under one banner - the sign of the Dollar($) an get back what is rightfully ours... or die trying."

How I usually deal with the bug is to cheat. If I retrain one or more units and they don't get the experience they should from the retraining, I open up the console, use the console commands to create those units with the same weapons/armor and the correct amount of experience they should have, then disband the ones that didn't get it.

Look at it this way, the AI needs all the help it can get. I currently control 36 regions and the only thing that is stopping me steamrollering to success is meeting armies that are upgraded to the hilt with my armies that contain very few upgrades. If I had loads of upgrades on my units it would be a walk in the park

Orda - Are you suggesting that the AI is not "aware", so to speak, about upgrading/retraining units? Come to think of it - I do find that towards the middle to end of the game, my units are way overpowering compared to the AI's.

Thoughts?

No, the AI is upgrading to gold. It's my units that are not. Mine are bronze or silver at best but the majority are basic
