Am i the only one who is still in shock from the fact that the lordz are going to maked their own game. No that i am saying that this is a bad thing but i cant imagine a world where their will be no more NTW instalments :(. Still it is a very good thing.

Think of it this way, the Lordz will now have a game with total access to all hard-coded limitations. The engine doesn't look half bad, and I'll bet the game play will be stellar in comparison to NTW1 or 2. Its not bad news at all, just a change of routine, and I for one applaud them in their effort.

Finnaly, I have waited years for this moment!
Finnaly, my dream.... ...................................................................................................
This shocks me. A mod becoming a game - CA's nightmare
I'm not going to say a thing about CS, DOD or RO here :beam: This is, admittedly, the first rts mod team i've seen strike out on their own, and i wish them the best of luck
This has probably already been answered somewhere else, but I'm just too... well, the point is, we aren't going to be expecting price tags on their new titles are we? I remember LZoF mentioning that modding some of these new games is like real work. But that doesn't mean that they'd leave their fan base of lazy people that can't be bothered to buy a real game does it?
It'll be sad to see who the real loyalists are... ;_;
Of course they'll be selling them.
Why wouldn't they?
And to be honest, why wouldn't you pay for a quality game?

C'mon you'd be spending maybe 19.99 to 39.99 not really a big deal, and you'd be supporting some uber game makers, who I can assure you would make some high quality games, and would probably actually work hard on patches for it too. Also you wouldn't have to worry about waiting for a Beta.

Yup, anyone else would have taken the blatantly obvious hints that this was the road they were going down :whip: :beam:

Yeah, the lordz are loyal to there fanbase. When you think of other game companies which started by someone posting in the local newspaper or something(Sometimes i think thats how they do it, with such bad games poping out these days:laugh4: ) And then you look at Mod started Games
Newspaper Recruited Companies: Some look after there fanbase, but dont really know how the gamers think and feel
Mod STarted Comapnies: They were one of the peasents once, and they know how it feels to be.

Surely Lordz would have to create their own game engine and campaign map because of Copyright on Creative Asssembly's side? Therefore, as well as the paying for it, i think this would be very unwise for the lordz to do

The Arcane Legions : A Rising Shadow game engine will be used as a base for our next project, most recently the Arcane game engine has been nominated for the technical excellence award at the Independent Games Festival, or IGF (http://www.igf.com/2007finalistswinners.html). The winners will be decided in March at the 2007 Game Developers Conference, or GDC (http://www.gdconf.com/). Slitherine has put a lot of time and effort into this new and improved engine for Arcane Legions and this is a great reward! This is the actual engine we will be working with, so we are really looking forward to this collaboration.
By the way this is taken from http://www.thelordzgamesstudio.com/ which is their website for the new project. Again I wish them the best of luck with their all new game, I can't wait for the release

We will give it all we have got guys, we will never forget where we came from and listen to the fans. It is impossible to please everybody of course, and we cannot be that communicative in public like in the past, but we will make sure we do the utmost to build a good game and give the strategy gamers something different. And especialy doing the Napoleonic era justice, it is a period that in our opinion leans itself for interesting strategy games, to much neglected by the gaming industry in the past. It will be a long, hard and risky road. But it feels good to see your support.
Cheers,
LZ

they are though a variety of strategy games out that are more established such as the cossacks series, how would compete with them?
Well, the best way to compete is finding an innovatave idea and doing it better than anyone else :beam:

Well for one thing, make it LOOK better than Cossacks. They are still using Sprites I believe. Then you improve gameplay a bit, and you finally hit the niche market of historical accuracy.
