In my current game i'm playing as Egypt, and i've taken all the Middle East and Anatolia. Something odd has occured, though. The Pope called a crusade against me, and the first crusading army (Hungarian) was quickly destroyed. Then English and Papal states armies crusading armies arrive at the area in the Constantinople region where it's possible to cross by land into Asia (the historical Hellespont). Once they get there, Papal States and English diplomats propose ceasefires, which I accept. Usually when you make peace with the Pope, you get a little "crusade fails" notification, but nothing happened. The English and Papal armies both have crosses over their banners, signifying that they're crusading armies, but they're not making any moves to cross into my territory and when I move the mouse over them, they both say "neutral", confirming that I am indeed at peace with them. Is this a glitch? Do you yourself have to be the one that initiates the peace in order for the crusade to be cancelled?

Making peace with the pope doesn't end a crusade. Reconciliation will, but that's only possible if you're playing a Catholic faction that's been excommunicated. You're playing Muslim, so that's out. How many turns has it been since the crusade was called? There's a limit of something like 10 turns from when it was called for armies to join the crusade. Once that's done, the crusade won't end until all of those crusader armies are dead, or the target city falls to a Christian faction. I'm not sure if falling to an Orthodox faction would count, or if it would have to be a Catholic faction army.

Once, while playing the Byzantines, a jihad was called against Constantinople. All the Muslim factions joined it, but the Moors asked for a ceasefire a few turns later, which I accepted. It didn't stop their jihad army; that army marched overland through Spain, mainland Europe, and came down through the Balkans. They declared war on me again when they eventually reached the city. If the Papal States had an army on the crusade (happens sometimes post-patch, or if someone has gifted extra territory to the faction) they'll even keep coming after you. You've got a ways left to go before this ends, I'm afraid.

Ah, thanks for the info. I was puzzled since the PS and English crusades didn't seem to be too interested in crossing my lands, which I wouldn't have minded since their armies were more than half comprised of pilgrims.
