View Full Version : Help in transferring mod from RTW1.2 to RTW.BI

While I was trying to transfer a personal mod from RTW1.2 to RTW.BI I found impossible to play the game with the slave faction.
In fact, every time I try to do it the game CTD without being able to show the campaign map, while no problem at all occurs when I play with all the other factions.
This seems really inexplicable, also given that in RTW1.2 it was possible to play the slave faction with no problems at all.
Anyone has any idea to solve this question?

Yeah well... try renaming the slave faction. Renaming the slot should generally solve all the troubles.... Not my domain though as I never had such freak ideas.... when you mess with this you must be prepared to mess with teh hardcode so....

You can sometimes play slave faction in BI - mods, I've had them playable temporarily for testing. Think it gets fussier about relationships between faction creator in descr_strat and descr_regions and the default slave factions in regions. Please don't ask how though, I just noticed that when I changed some of that it made it work / not work.

though I don't know if game may want to have slave faction in - I've no idea what omitting it would do to generation of brigands etc.

Since now I've found a lot of problem in transferring the mod but everything now seems ok, aside this problem.
I'm not interested in playing with the slave faction but it is important to look at it in order to balance the game.
So thank's everybody for the ideas!:yes:

If its just testing and you don't want to play them otherwise, don't mess with the internal name change thing. Even if game accepts it, it would change slave faction behaviour completely - i.e. presently their cities don't revolt to other factions regardless of level of unrest, their armies are killed totally if defeated in battle rather than retreating etc, etc....
