Hi all, this is my first post on these forums. I just downloaded EB for the first time two days ago, and I have to say this mod is trully fantastic. I have been playing RTR almost daily for about two years now, EB has easilly just extended the life of RTW by another year atleast, amazing work guys.

My minor issue is a something that is not explained clearly in the bugs section.

I triggered the Polybian reforms before I was able to recruit any troops in Tara (Tarentum). I immediatly started building MICS all over Res Republica to produce my new troops. I have the same MICs and government types in Tara as in Api, but Api can recruit polybian hastati/principe etc. while Tara is only able to produce velites.

The bug section said something about 0.8 having a bug whereby Polybian reforms were first 5 cities and Segesta. I just want to clear up, does this mean I cannot recruit Polybian reform troops anywhere in Italy and Sicily apart from the first 5 and Segesta? Or is there another issue at hand here.

Sorry for asking the potentially obvious, but I am not clear on the issue.

Really, really great mod guys. Been playing it two days now and I cannot say enough good things about it. The icing on the cake has to be once you have finished administrating Res Republica and take your troops into battle, to find them speaking in Latin. Brilliant.

EDIT:

Also just realised, why do Polybian reform Triarii have a lower shield value than Camillan reform Triarii? The defence statistics are identical overall, but the addition of the new, larger shield in place of the Hellenic shield results in a halving of the shield value?

I believe this is to represent the change of the role of the triarii from a phalanx, who fight with overlapping shields and thus recieve a higher shield bonus to represent this since the RTW engine can't, to more traditional spearmen. However, this is simply a inference from another members post.

Welll, the thing is, phalnax formation does just that in the RTW engine. Also, the Polibyan triarii loose 3 attack and gain a larger bonus versus cavalry and camels, and loose a penalty against elephants.

I edited their stats (export_descr_units.txt) to give them higher attack and defense values (+1 to each vs Camillian) on my comp, so that they don't recieve a downgrade ~:)

IIRC, future releases will have Polybian units in southern Italia. And Marian units in all of Italia.
