Books on Englands History 0 AD - 800/900 AD

Anyone have any book recommendations that either give a history of Britain/England during this era or any books that analyse the histories of Bede and other historians of the era?

I too would like to find something devoted to this subject. The only book that comes too mind is a duology(or maybe it's a trilogy) chronicling the history of England. The first book takes place from 2,000 B.C.-1100 A.D. I think. I forget the author though.

I've never seen a book completely devoted to this subject. For more general information, you might want to try Norman Davies' Europe: A History or similar books on European/British history. Some internet sources might be helpful, too, unless you've taken in all you can from Wikipedia etc. There's no 0 AD, BTW ~:).

Micheal Woods Dark Ages is very good.
So is David Starkeys Monarchy, the first volume.
Could Also read Bernard Cornwells Last Kingdom series.

Was going to mention Michael Wood. Hes great, also look at "In search of England" also by him.

Avoid Bernard Cornwell like the plague; the only decent bit of history in his books is the page long historical note at the back; the rest is crap.

Rythmic, you need to get hold of Frank Stenton's "Anglo-Saxon England". This extensively covers the Anglo-Saxon period you are interested in and more.

I presume you are talking about Wood's "In search of England," right?
