View Full Version : Building Flow Chart?
Hello,
I am finding the building system of EB confusing. Has anyone made a spread sheet or flow chart to show how the system works?
What are you confused about? I think there was a sheet for the nomadism governments, but I only saw it with the release of .8.

I think the Topic Creator means - what buildings do you need to build X, Y, or Z? And probably more important - what is to be gained from the MICs, under government types 1 to 4.

The problem is that it is really really complicated. Lots of building complexes have levels (higher ones) that are limited by the type of govt you put in too. So if you put a type4 in, you wont' be able to build a number of your best structures. But sometimes one building has lots of different variants - depending upon what faction you are too. It's extremely complex and there's just no way we can take the time to make a flow chart. The best thing we have is a spreadsheet, and it's big and complex too, but just for development.
Will the building browser be able to parse the build tree, such that we can at least open the BB in a settlement once we've built a government there and see what can be built under that government?

Some of the time, but not all of the time. Don't blame us though - "not" conditionals really work wonders, and function correctly in the game itself for buildings, but they keep those levels from showing up on the building browser (something hardcoded). That's not our fault - the benefits from using the not conditionals in the code though are way too great for us to get rid of it so that the building browser shows perfectly what is available. Sorry about that.

The best thing to do would probably just go by the rule
;government 1 is best in the end, 4 has the best selection of local troops if you want them. And if you want any specific units/buildings ask on the forum how to get them
Its worked for me thusfar.

Pretty good plan HC. I know there are "hotspots" though. If I'm Greek, then at the head of the Adriatic I go for Patavium - up and down it on the sides is awful, but at least there are some decent low and mid class celts there. Maybe a "favorite local MIC recruiting hotspots" thread would be a good idea. Where a type4 gov and a level 5 local MIC get you some great stuff.

Yes, that is what I ment. Since the ingame building tree does not work, it would be nice to have a chart of all the buildings.
I can decypher the text files enough to create a chart myself (like the one that game with the RTR game on the backside of the map). However I want to wait until the .81 patch is out so I do not waste any work. It will also be easier to decypher when there are more descriptions.

Never mind the buildings, what i would really like is a Recruitment Guide *kowtow* What can be built at what level local and foreign conscription centre, etc etc, under what Government Type, yadda, yadda. I would be willing to shoulder that job on myself, seriously, so desperate I have become, if only I knew how to decipher the whole export_descr_units' code language. Areas alpha, beta, epsilon and so on are not the best way for guidewriters to figure out which provinces can recruit who in what sort of governmental conditions. XD

We've got something even better than a guide for that pez. I'll ask for the ETA on its release again.
In the meantime you can have a look at the link in my sig, pez (but its mak only) ~D
i got one: what can you recruit in Galatia as Pontos with the different government types? Since Pontos is fairly diverse in the first place, are Galatian troops considered Pontic, or foreign?
ignore this if the 'thing' Teleksos is hinting at is already gonna gimme an answer

I just hope that the sheets that have been used to edit units in, can be converted into generalized information on what is recruitable by whom. Ideally in such a way, that this new sheet gets updated automatically as the units get edited in.
Else it will be a gruesome task to come up with the complete information.
That alone is a great testimony on how complex EB is. :2thumbsup:

Well, I think we released all the info on it, for one of the org awards, but I don't know if those are still visible - I think they are hidden now. If anyone saw our submission for the "tools" section, you saw it I think.

There is allready a chart of that, but it is hard to use.
I think it would be easier to make a guide like you referenced in as an appendium to a building guide.

You did, I guess and you did so after the Comments on the Greek Voice Mod thread went into exile in some backwater spot on this forum... So, should be visible: at least if it's the "we'd like to share with you what our tool creator has made for us" thread...
