View Full Version : Attention Mein Panzer!
In the past, EB has been more than willing to have discussions on any given SINGLE point of contention. But for the first time we have a person - you - who is questioning tens of things per week, with no end in sight.
Well here's the deal. You get to pick ONE ITEM per week to discuss. Put it out there on Sunday, and if we have knowledgeable experts with the time and availability, we'll address it. You can keep the topic going as long as you like, but you can't start a new one and then go back to old ones. And if I detect any segue into additional areas, all such posts will be deleted. Why am I imposing this limit? BECAUSE WE ARE TRYING TO BUILD A MOD, and you sir are not helping.
Historical discussions are all well and good, but the EB Team is not a debating society. We aren't here to publish scholarly tracts. We are here to take whatever information we can find or interpret and use it to build a mod that's historically accurate, given the information constraints affecting this era. And as the EB Project Manager, my job is to ensure the team is focused on building that mod. And since productivity is starting to go down the tubes, you have now departed from the historian's turf and begun to poach on mine. And you don't want to go there, believe me.
This policy is effective immediately, so I suggest you let me know which of your myriad topics is the active one, as I'm going to lock all the others. They can be reopened in due time - when their turn comes - so any effort expended there won't be "lost". If, as you have told us countless times, your true goal is to "help the mod", than this shouldn't be a problem for you. Personally I think your obvious depth of knowledge *could* be helpful to the mod, but at the moment it's quite the reverse.

Don't worry, you don't even have to bother. Since it's clear that any kind of discussion I bring up will not be constructive, I'll do what you guys want and stop questioning your choices of reconstruction. Since any discussion inevitably becomes me versus the entire EB team and hangers on, there is no way that any kind of argument on my part can result in positive change. I'm sorry I broke your system by actually challenging some of your choices and providing evidence. Good luck with the mod.

Patience, friend. This is not about any supposed bitter "enmity" or objection to criticism, but rather a practical limit which will hopefully serve as a common ground between answering questions (And in this respect, you are very prolific) and doing as much work as possible. Unfortunately, there have been complaints regarding how you deliver your criticism, but it is apparent that you are not doing it out of spite, even though it sometimes may seem somewhat annoying (The rock-hard faith in archaeology, vis-a-vis to the sometimes crucial "fill-in-the-blanks" work which was largely the framework for mainly the Eastern units, in which I shall soon return to you regarding the Grivpanvar). This is not an attempt at gagging or blind-folding anyone on the behalf of our collective ears or ego, but far rather a matter of priorities. The team appreciates constructive criticism, in particular regarding history, but bearing in mind that the mod needs to be completed first, no part is going to gain anything by perpetuating flame-wars. Just relax and think things over. The restriction, no matter how corny it may sound, could even inspire to make a more careful selection of points that need to be addressed. A quick sequence of posts does not facilitate a scholarly atmosphere. We are not here to quash any discourse, but we do have priorities.

Calm down Kull, it's only a member....

He he. Kull finally got a bit mad that we (members) spend too much time on public forum and not making progress inside. Some time ago we were encouraged to be more active here ~:)
MeinPanzer we are not trying to shut you up. But responding to all those threads consumes A LOT of time from team members, and doing actual modding is slowed down.

responding to all those threads consumes A LOT of time from team members, and doing actual modding is slowed down.It is indeed like re-arguing each one of those units over again from scratch. We don't keep files where the information for each unit is listed either - it's all on a big forum, and sometimes searching is quick, but sometimes it's not at all.
And Kull is interested primarily on getting the mod completed, not answering public forum questions, so I certainly see where he's coming from.
again, EB tries to bring down the iron curtain
if the problem is with team members not doing their work(is this a hobby or a carreer?), then why not simply impose this stupid rule on them?
limiting discussion on a forum is as dumb as limiting the amount of shit in a toilet...you put it there, its gonna fill!

BTW, you guys don't have to answer his questions. There is no need to impose strict rules such as this. I am sure that some historians that are not part of EB would pass by and answer questions.

Couldn't go 10 posts here without a diatribe from fallen? :laugh4: Comparing us to Hitler no less, and EB fans as Nazi supporters (he has done that before actually - but it's pretty funny each time). Everyone knows you mate, you've accused us of the worst possible stuff in the world here, and gone on philosophical rants against us time and time again. Enough is enough - put your popcorn up and stop preparing any other theses to nail to the door of the "Church of EB" here. Not gonna happen on this one - everyone get back to work.
