I've noticed that all barbarian units have a missile attack parameter higher than legionaires (5 or 6 to 4). As we know Roman pila had the capacity to pierce and bend in most shields and light armor unlike the lighter javelins used by barbarian warriors except the ones like the soliferum used by Iberian Caetrati (for them an high attack value is justified, also considering their skill in weapon's use). Moreover a compact volley of heavy pila could increase the chance of hitting an unprotected part of an enemy and had a greater effect on morale than the disordered launch of missiles usually executed by barbarians. Missiles like the German frameae had actually a longer range than pila as is correctly represented in Europa Barbarorum. So the missile attack value for non-elite barbarian and eastern units could be reduced to 4 and increased to 5 for Marian legionaires, who had better pila and a superior training. Marian and Polybian legionaires could also receive a "missiles effective against armor" bonus (Camillan legionaires didn't actually use the pila). As for the melee combat parameters, their value could be 10 for Camillan Hastati and Principes, 12 for Polybian Hastati and Principes, considering the adoption of the gladium hispaniensis and the experience of the Punic wars, and 15 for Marian Legionaires as Mario had to substantially increase the close combat training of his men after the initial defeats of the Republican armies against the Cimbri and Teutoni. Defense abilitities could be adjusted accordingly. Antesignani could have shield and armor parameters 2 points lower than standard legionaires to represent their lighter equipment. Also it would be a nice thing to add a "Cohors Augustea" equipped with the lorica segmentata.

The pilum is AP, the others are not, this accurately reflects the relationship between weapons.

As to Lorica Segmentata. The absolute earliest find is from 9 BC, the next from 9AD and we do not have a complete set of that LS to be able to fully reconstruct it. There is no evidence that this armour was widespread at the time and the performance of said armour is woeful on campaign when compared to mail. It creates far too many problems with too few benefits for it to be preferable for the mobile Augustan Legions.

As to stat balancing I will leave that to our stat guys, suffice to say that the Roman way of war was about the Legion not the Legionary and that said Legionaries were not that stunning one-on-one.
