Whilst I marvel at the EB's historically based recruitment setup, it does at times leave me groping in the dark for those elusive interesting units(please excuse my ignorance in this matter). I tried reading the thread on recruitment, but there's not much there for me.
As an example, at the moment I have taken a Roman Legion on a recruiting sortie(sort of like a press gang on a national level), out looking for those bad boys the Thracian Peltasts(I like the unit).
So I begin with trying to figure out where Thrace is(I have a rough idea, how I don't know). Upon right clicking on the map somewhere just south of the Getai's turf(I have a spy in the area), it assures me this is Thracian soil.
When I get my Legion there, I find I can recruit as mercs, the said unit, and they come with 2 experince points, so I must be in just the right spot.
I will be assaulting the village when I get home this evening, the thing is which govement building do I use?
From what I understand the lowest level of govement(4)building will most likely attract the fullest range of auxillary troops along with the auxillary barracks, and to what level will the auxillary barracks need to be made?
Or have I got this wrong and it's the normal barracks because they are not available as auxillary?
Adding to my confusion is, some of these varied elusive units can be recruited at only one or two settlements. Then are they regional or auxillary troops, and how up the Mic level they are. And if they are regional not auxillary, I am likely to build a Govement building which is to low. The other aspect is how elite are these varied units considered to be? Because if they are fairly elite I will need at least a govement2 building to get a level3-4 barracks?
Is there an easy way to tell who is auxillary and who isn't?
Will there ever be a guide as to what you need, to recruit what unit, and where? Or is there one that has escaped my attention?
Sounds like a huge long winded job though!
Thanks for any replies, and I hope my question doesn't seem to muddled!
