Ok, I have two questions that I failed to find help with on another forum. But hopefully, here I will find some assisstance. ANy help would be GREATLY appriciated.

Adding Mercenary Units to Custom Battle

I know that to add mercenary units to custom battle, I have to edit the ownership of the unit in the file export_descr_unit.txt. But then I heard I had to add the unit info, and this is where I ran into a major problem. They said that the Unit info was in a folder called "UI" located in my "Data" folder, but to my luck, there was no file ANYWHERE in my game files called "UI". Here are some pictures of my game files:

C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War

C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\data

C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mymod\data

https://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a348/Brian2570/zzzzzzzzzzzz.jpg

It is strange because people seem to be able to access folders such as export_descr_unit.txt without a mod I have called “MyMod”. I think there is something major wrong with my game files.

Making Slaves Playable in Custom Battle

Here again I fail to execute the simplest instructions. I know that to make the slaves playable in Custom Battle, I must edit the file descr_sm_factions, and change "custom_battle_availability" from "no" to "yes", but of course when I do, they don't show up at the Custom Battle Faction Selection screen.

you need to use the unpacker supplied as part of the 1st patch.
Do it correctly and you will see a lot of folders within the data folder and one of those will be UI.

Can't totally remember I think you just download it, unzip it and run it. For the unpacker there is a read me which comes with it.
