Hi Jkarinen,
Yes, I am pleased to say that these invasions actually occurred in the 400s rather than the early ADs so BI does include massive Hunnic and Gothic invasions. If you plan on getting BI I suggest that you run from their hordes! Good luck and cheers!

The Huns and the Goths are indeed in the game. The Huns start off as a large horde that move across the land, pillaging as they go, whereas the Goths are already settled, although usually end up being forced to migrate as a horde themselves when the Huns and Vandals arrive in force.

Yes, they are fully playable and, even better, you get the opportunity to sack Rome!

No, the Huns never set a foot near Rome. They threatened it, but that was as far as they went. The Goth's actually had the cheek to actually go and sack Rome after the young and foolish emperor kept on betraying them with diplomatic deals.

I believe that the General/King's name was Alaric.

Brown horde are the Vandals.
Celts have allied to them and we are squeezing out the red Western Romans.
Huns have gone east or south as they went to war with the Eastern Roman empire.

I aim, to impress.
Anyhoo, I want to give the Huns a run through. Should be fun.Oh yes, the Huns are good fun. Their not especially hard, but leaving a trail of destruction on the way to Rome with a huge horde is an extremely good way to make yourself rich very quickly. Especially if you sack all huge cities that you find.
If you are looking for more of challenge with a horde faction try the almighty Vandals. With the Vandals the best option is to try and get away from the Huns by going South, if you don't they always see to destroy you quickly. After that wiping out the powerful Sassanids, sacking their settlements as you go, is the best option to gain yourself money for when you settle. Travelling West, and occupying the Eastern Empire is then a good option so you can regain a new homeland and a new army, and then you can meet back with the Huns in the Western Empire for a final epic showdown over who will rule over the known world. That's the really fun part. Enjoy your campaigns, cheers!
