Got a bug report for you guys.

1) Roman Levy Slingers (Accensi) make archer attack sound instead of slinger attack sound.

2) In cities where type 1 government (homeland) is available and built, even after demolishing existing barracks, only LOCAL barracks/MIC can be built. Roman barracks are unavailable. Also, after upgrading local barracks/MIC, ALL local units are available. Something similar happens with type II governments as well. In Sicily, I can recruit Greek archers and cavalry. In Cispaline Gaul I can recruit Gallic archers and non-levy spear soldiers.

1- All non-javalin missile units make the archer sound.
2- Faction MICs are tied to your era. Since there is no reason to tear down a MIC in the Camilian Era, there is no reason to make them rebuildable.

What is wrong with recruitment? Romans are suppost to be able to recruit greeks in sicily and gauls in gaul.

I suppose I should post screenshots related to issue #2:

I built a homeland, and I don't have access to roman barracks, but I have the possibility of constructing level 2 gallic barracks/units. I should only be able to build level 1 gallic barracks.

Built a type II government, and I don't have access to roman barracks. I can build level 3 greek baracks, and I would have the capability of recruiting greek cavalry!

According to the building descriptions online and in game, I shouldn't have access to local advanced units in govt. II, and I shouldn't have access to local mid-level units for govt. I. And I should DEFINITELY be able to build roman barracks and recruit roman units in both governments.

Oh, ok.
The thing is that there are no Roman unit available outside of cental italia. So there is no faction MIC available, because it would just be empty. You have to wait until the Polybian Era to build faction MIC in the rest of Italia and the Marian Era to build them outside of Italia.

TypeI and TypeII can build regional units, just not the best. With a TypeI you can only build two tiers of regional MIC and with a TypeII you can only build three tiers of regional MIC (the best regional units are in tiers four and five). And with TypeIII and TypeIV, you can build only a couple of tiers of factional MIC, so you can't build the best faction units.
Something like:
TypeI: 2 regional MIC tiers - 5 factional MIC tiers
TypeII: 3 regional MIC tiers - 3or4 (I forget) factional
TypeIII: 4 regional - 2or3 factional
TypeIV 5 regional - 2 factional
(The recruitment list isn't full in many places so the upper tiers are empty making high tiers of MIC useless.)

Thanks for the clarification. Nowhere in the rules does it say that you can't recruit roman units outside of Italy in the Camillian Era :( I must have spent an hour trying to figure out what was going on.

EDIT: I stand corrected. The online manual states in exactly which provinces early units can be built. However, it would be nice to be able to start building barracks early. Looks like I'll have to be shipping armies from central Italy until the Marian reforms come around :)

Thanks for the clarification.
No prob. :2thumbsup:

However, it would be nice to be able to start building barracks early.
Due to the complexity of the reform system, even if you built barracks early, they wouldn't have any units when you hit the next Era. The MICs are actually different buildings for each Era. Changing an Era only means that you can't build one type of MIC anymore and you now can build a different type. Picture:

Actually, you'll have to ship them from Italia until the Imperial Era. :sweatdrop:

One tiny fix to that very nice graphic. The Camillan MIC5 upgrades to the Polybian MIC5 (as does the Marian5 to the Augustan5)

As for why you can't build a useless building? Two reasons. If you think from a roleplaying perspective, what Roman governor is going to invest time and money to build something that has no use whatsoever? And secondly we just reduce your frustration by preventing you from building a structure that offers no benefits. For every one person who wants to build a bogus building, there are 10 who would be quite PO'd about wasting their time on this.

Vigiles appear in what will become the Western Empire, levy hoplites appear in what will become the Eastern Empire.

Well I get the Vigiles but i don't get to recruit any levy hoplites from the Marian barracks in the East. Regional ones work fine though...so I dunno if its even an issue since almost all Eastern places can train up levy hoplites in regional with only a few dead spots (Ammonion and Hblis[sp?] come to mind).
