Ok I know cheating is wrong but I just want to give authority traits to my King. I have noticed that the command work only if the character is a direct ancestor of the first King, meaning that the command do not work for family members that have been married to king doters or adopted members. Is that so or I do something wrong here.

Please help

Thank you. I try it and it works. Actualy you have to select the character by rigth clicling on him and then to press the ` key to enter the command. Thanks again.

I'm working on a big script that heavily depends on give_script command. Supplying a name completely worked in RTW, but now I have to use "give_trait this" and have no other way?? What is the alternative about targeting characters in scripts?

This has got to be an important bug, though no fuss was made over it.

Well it's your game. Do what you want with it.
If you want to use cheats, go ahead, it's just a game d00d.

Cheating does kill the challenge though.

You can still use character names, its just give_trait this is easier to type.

It currently only works for character names that are 1 word or first name - title, as then you'd still just use the first name.
Doesn't seem to work for first name last name anymore as it did in rtw

I always use trait_this (when necessary) rather than the name, it's just so much easier. And once the char gets an honorific (like The Great etc) then I can't ever get it to work with the name.

Signifer: Try using quotes enclosing the name or changing spaces to underscores.

That only works for move_character and character_reset now. No longer for give/remove trait/ancillary.

True that. Characters with two names are no longer able to be used in the give_trait/ancillary etc command line (with quotes, with underscores, with any other letter or keyboard character inserted, I've tried and it just doesn't seem to work). Unfortunate that.
But then again, how would I know.....

Wanted to see about giving the AI some traits for the princess I want to marry with my prince. I know how to use the commands, really just want to use it on the princess I want to marry so it wont really ruin the challenge. Thanks for any help you can give.

Only works if princess has a first name only.
In which case give_trait NaMe PrettyWoman 3
For instance will work.

I just tried it out and have no problems

give_trait Rufus Arse 4
give_trait William GoodTrader 3 (for King William the Conquerer)
give_trait "Dietrich von Saxony" Handsome
give_trait "Anna Comnenus" PrettyWoman 2

Quotes are not necessary for single names.
Quotes and regular spaces are used for multiple names
Honorifics and other titles are not part of the name.

If you give Dietrich von Saxony Feck 4 so he becomes Dietrich the Profane, you still have to use "Dietrich von Saxony" as his name, even though you can't see the 'von Saxony', this might cause some problems if you can't remember his full name.

I must admit I have used

give_trait this NightBattleCapable to face the mongols in a few campaigns.

It works like this

give_trait this GoodCommander 5 (you have to get them out of town and click on the small photo of them when they are targeted)
or like this

give_ancillary this doctor

there is a great guide for traits and ancillary's at gamespot it has a lot of good ones listed and explains what the relationship to the other ones are too .

so you know how to remove them
be warned if you hit enter with no trait or ancillary typed it will remove ALL the ones the char has:oops: so be careful but if you get to inbreeding a lot it is fast to remove the ones you cant find the name for:wall: good luck
